Ratings Summary
We were there 12/31/22 - 1/14/23. So many good things about this park (there are lots of cabins, too)! It’s small. Each site has a big charcoal grill and picnic table. The sites are quite wide (you can easily park your truck next to your RV with room to spare). Hook ups work really well. It’s next to the Frio River. There are dozens of whitetail deer that roam the park, including many bucks, morning, noon and night. There is a flock(?) of Rio Grande turkeys that also roams the park. The night sky is divine. The quiet is almost a physical presence. The bluffs surrounding this valley are beautiful, as is all the hill country in this part of Texas. The drive to Uvalde is about a half hour if you stick to posted speeds, and is quite pretty. The store onsite has lots of clothing, hats and footwear for everyday, or for use in/on the river. They also sell bird seed, deer corn and some camping necessities. There is no TV signal in the valley, but, free of charge, the park will supply all the equipment you’ll need for Dish (I think that’s what the company is, anyway). The park gate is operated by card key. got lucky and were the only ones there for 9 days.

A very nice campsite with RV sites and cabins . Picturesque views of bluffs along the river. Close to Leakey, Concan and Uvalde. There are tons of deer, Axis deer and wild turkeys. I counted over 40 turkeys this morning. RV sites are nestled in among Pecan trees and the little store sells their pecans. The sites on the right as you enter can be pull throughs accessible from an unimproved dirt road behind them. Drive down length of RV section and turn right through the RV only signs. You can’t see the road at night. All the RV sites on the left as you enter are back ins. They have a pool and access to the river.
