“a blast from the past”
Allen's Conoco Fillin' Station located on the corner of Route 66 is a blast from the past. The tiny station was built out from the exterior wall of the final building on main street. Now serving as museum and gift shop owners, Linda and Bobby Allen spend their days comparing stories of the Mother Road with travelers passing by. After visiting the station you can walk across the street to Dairy King and purchase time-honored treats for your sweet tooth.
This was closed when we were there, but the site was lovely and made for great photography. The photograph here is perfect for the stop off view. We enjoyed just looking at it. We walked across the street to Dairy King and were regaled with wonderful smells, equally wonderful people and a vast amount of visiting and information.
Unfortunately it's no longer in its pristine condition as the picture had shown. But it's still pretty cool and right across the street from Dairy King, so it is not a wasted trip!
Very easy to drive past this. Not see much to see but small photo op on your trip.
Not worth the stop unless you can go when it's open.
