Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on August 23, 2023We had a very tough time finding an RV Park for visiting the Kennedy Space Center and Cocoa Beach area. We started our search about 9 months in advance and we found Joy RV Park on GoogleMaps after exhausting our search and finding everything else full. It was listed under their old name on Campendium (which is now updated).
As an FYI, Joy stands for "J is for Jesus First", "O is for Others Second" and "Y is for Yourself Last".
This park is located very close to I95 and you will hear traffic all day and night.
The park is very basic. There is a small heated pool, no hot tub. The clubhouse is quite old, yet adequate if you wanted to hold an event there. I can say that the restrooms and showers were very nice. They were updated and very clean. However, they are only open from 8:30am - 8:00pm.
The office area and check-in process was smooth, easy and friendly.
The site was a mix of gravel and grass, as was most sites. There was a lot of rain when we were there and some of the sites (mostly where you park your car) turned very muddy.
The utilities at the sites worked as they should and were easy to access.
There was free wi-fi that worked sufficiently for me to work from, but could be challenging in the evenings.
The park was a mix of short-term and long-term, seasonal people.
There were a handful of old RV's that seemed to just be stored in sites. They were covered in mold, slides in and we never saw them occupied.
They offer rental RV's that were in a very sad state (see my photo). I never saw them occupied when we were there. Again, they were all covered in mold, very dirty and looked like they had not received any attention in quite some time. Having so many of these old RV's scattered around the park just brought down the experience for us.
The location of the park is close to Cocoa Village which is nice for restaurants and some cool small shops. But the immediate area close to the park is not appealing. The park next to Joy that we would walk thru to get our walking steps in had several rebel flags proudly displayed.
If we were coming back to this area, we would be sure to plan earlier and find another park.

The park was NOT easy to find. It is located off of Tucker Lane and Sandpiper Drive. It is about a mile from I 95 but the signage is very poor. Check in was efficient and friendly. The rules are fairly basic. The interior roads are paved and in good condition. This park is NOT a resort. The only amenity is a pool. There is not even a playground for children. There is nothing noteworthy about the park but it did deliver the basics needed for our stay. There are negatives. The ground gets very mushy and water pools on the roadway when it rains and it stays that way for a long time. Clearly, there is a drainage problem. There is course sand around that gets easily tracked into your rig. Many pet cats roam freely and defecate everywhere. The only trash bin is located very inconveniently way up front.
Our site, 178, was a grass based back in that was long enough for our Coach and Towed. Services (30 amp and sewer were to the left but water was to the right rear. Both water and power were a big stretch). Distancing is not too bad for a rural park. There are no privacy barriers. Each site has a table and a small concrete patio. Our site was flat and even. Overall, the park looked tired and run down.
The park included wifi worked well most of the time. There is no cable TV but we found a number of OTA channels. Satellite would not be difficult. We did not use the washrooms or showers but we checked and found them clean as was the laundromat.
There are no restaurants or stores within easy walking distance but just a short drive away you can find food, shopping and convenience stores. We found this park to be an okay base for visiting local attractions. We paid $60.00 per night inc tax and we feel we received poor value. We would be back if in the area again but only if we could not find anything else.

We've had the pleasure of staying at both site 185 and 11, and our experience was delightful with both choices! The front office staff consistently exudes helpfulness and politeness. Each site is equipped with water hookups, electric connections, and sewage facilities. What's impressive is that these amenities are available on every site, setting them apart as the most competitively priced campground in the vicinity—my thorough research of other options confirms this.
Notably, JOY RV offers the flexibility of both short-term and long-term stays, a versatility that distinguishes them from neighboring campgrounds. On top of that, they provide onsite storage options, complimentary wifi, a refreshing pool, impeccably maintained showers and restrooms, and a convenient laundry facility. For those requiring a peaceful environment to focus on tasks like schoolwork or professional assignments, the spacious and tranquil clubhouse proves to be a valuable asset—I, personally, take full advantage of this convenience.
The campground enjoys a strategic location with a nearby Sam's Club for shopping convenience. Plus, its direct access to the interstate simplifies travel to Melbourne (approximately 30 minutes away), Daytona Beach (roughly an hour's drive), and even Orlando (merely 45 minutes away). It's undeniable that this location is prime.
In our quest for the perfect camping spot, stumbling upon JOY RV was a stroke of luck. Without reservation, we wholeheartedly endorse it to fellow travelers seeking a phenomenal experience.
