Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on February 20, 2023Poudre Canyon is a favorite spot and during high season, it is tough to find a open site even during the week. We arrived Thursday morning and found most sites were open. Totally shocked. We found site 6 to our liking because it is the last site on the lower loop. We can block out the neighbors in #5 with our camper. The table and fire rink are about 30 feet in a secluded area. We like to be secluded!
Site does have river access, as well as most of the other sites.
Trailers and RV's can fit in this campground. There are no hook-ups, so you have to be aware of that one person that feels it is his/her right to run a generator to watch TV and have air-conditioning.
There is some traffic noise from HWY 14, but that is normal for all campgrounds along the Poudre River. Once it gets dark, traffic noise decreases a lot.
Host was very nice and did an excellent job of cleaning the sites after a camper leaves.

I travelled here with a 35’ 5th wheel, long bed pickup and parked in the site #27, a dry, BI site for $12.50/night with the America the Beautiful pass. Due to an error on my part, I somehow ended up with no campground reservations for July 4th weekend. I stopped in this CG on my way to State Forest SP and chatted with the camp host. Cathy was VERY helpful and told me she had some folks leaving just prior to the weekend. She also gave me her phone number and encouraged me to text her to check in before driving back down the canyon. This allowed me to snag a spot in a lovely CG for the busy holiday weekend. The road and site were asphalt and gravel respectfully. The site was plenty long and level, but a little hard to get into due to a narrow road and low tree limbs on one side. I was in one of the sites across the river which felt a little more private and had more trees around them. It was only 30-40 steps to the Poudre River. It was very relaxing to listen to the water, but it did have a fairly fast current so people with kids or dogs should be wary. The site was open to the sky which was good for solar. There are several vault toilets around which were clean. Sites vary in regard to size and spacing. #27 was nicely separated from neighbors. #26 looked easier to get into and had a nicer seating area near the river which also got afternoon shade. It also had a little cove that might be good for families with kids if you wanted to sit in the river. #28 also looked easier to back into. There was some road noise from CO-14, but it was pretty minimal in the evenings. No cell, OTA or wifi. It was roughly 15 minutes to a small town where I was able to get 2 bars LTE with Verizon. It was a lovely place to just kick back and relax. I would definitely stay here again.
