“An Oasis for Weary Travelers!”
Roy E. Cline had an idea, give road weary travelers a place to stop, shop and eat. In 1934, his vision came to life with the opening of a filling station and café at the intersection of New Mexico State Highways 6 and 2. This placed his new business in between Moriarty and Santa Rosa New Mexico.
At that time Route 66 had a totally different alignment: it ran north towards Las Vegas and Santa Fe, in a wide arch between Santa Rosa and Albuquerque. But due to New Mexico politics, Route 66 would have a new, shorter path, bypassing the state capital. The sixty-nine miles of new road named New Mexico State Highway 6 would shave ninety miles off of Route 66. This new road was the opportunity that Roy needed.
In 1937, AASHO approved the Santa Rosa Cutoff that shortened Route 66. New Mexico Highway 6 moved slightly north and was renamed Route 66/U.S. 285. This posed a problem for Roy Cline and he would have to move the gas station and restaurant to the new Route 66. He purchased the land northwest of the intersecting Highway and convinced map makers to place Clines Corners on the map. Today, eighty-one years later, travelers can find Clines Corners in the same spot that Roy Cline purchased in 1937.
In 1939 Cline sold his property to S. Lynn Smith ("Smitty") who worked the place with his wife. The Smiths prospered and expanded their business. After Smitty's death in 1961 his wife Helen sold Clines Corners. Over the years, Clines Corners Retail Center has had 5 owners.
In the 81 years that Clines Corners has been serving the travelers along I-40, the facility has grown to match the demands of our customers. Clines is no longer a little building and cafe, but has grown to 30,000 square feet of retail space, two convenience filling station, RV park, and restaurants. Clines Corners is committed to providing our travelers with the finest handmade Native American jewelry, amazing gifts, first class hospitality, and the best food in the Southwest.

Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on May 27, 2023A new addition to the famous truck stop Clines Corners. This RV “Park”ing lot is clean and and surrounded by a fence with a gate code. It’s not scenic but it’s conveniently located off of I40.
The price tag is indicative of the location, there’s not much else out there. For my tiny rig, I only needed electric for a cold night and water which was turned off due to the freezing temps. Paying top dollar for amenities I didn’t use or they couldn’t provide was a little frustrating. I wish they had tiered pricing. The high price tag is the reason my overall rating is only 3 stars.
The upside is 24/7 access to restrooms, food and fun truck stop shopping.
I have Verizon and only used my iPad and phone on my own strong signal but WiFi is available and free.
Photos are from my west bound trip when I stopped for gas. Eastbound on the way back, it was dark and cold so I didn’t take pictures of the lot. It’s a clean, orderly, flat concrete lot with new hook ups, clean trash cans and dump station. There was only one other rig there during my one night stay. Although I40 is super close by the sound is buffered. There is just enough light to feel safe but not enough to be bothersome.
I will only camp here again if I find myself in the middle of the desert when the sun goes down, it’s too cold to dry camp and my favorite spot on this drive, San Jon, is two more hours down the road! But it’s totally worth a stop, the kitschy gift shop has great road trip souvenirs and the wooden Indian that greets at the door is a fun childhood memory.

$25 isn’t a bad price for having full hookups as a nightly rate, and the location is just perfect. Right off I-40, but you can’t hear the traffic because the park is further away from the road. All sites are exactly the same. It’s a well lit gravel parking lot with full hookups essentially. There’s plenty of room for big and small rigs alike. We camped here in our 25’ Class C rowing our Jeep and fit fine. Saw multiple large class As towing SUVs and they had plenty of room to not unhook.
Not sure where the other reviewer got his price from, but if you go to ClinesCorners.com and click reserve, you’ll see the current nightly rate. We’ve stayed here twice now and it’s always been $25.

Appeared to be about 80% full and looked like a "man camp" so I didn't stay. It didn't look like it would be a very pleasant and safe experience. I would have to be very desperate to stay there.

With NM State Parks etc. closed due to Covid we are just driving thru the state. Clines Corner was clean with easy pull thru sites. Its a convenient parking area for a 1 night stop with hook ups and inside our rv road noise from 40 is just background.

Convenient to I40, with NM closed to non-residents at parks and quarantine due to covid this was a good one night stop while driving thru. Road noise is in the background but not bad in our closed up RV. Easy pull thru gravel parking with concrete divides and all hookups. Clean.

This is a glorified truck stop with a separate gated RV park. Full hook ups, lighted pedestal, trash can, internet and antenna tv reception. Very easy to get in and out. Some highway noise. Safe. Gas, food, restrooms, store, LP tank exchange.
With the closures we were grateful to have this as an option.

For those of us on Campendium, this is an over-night stop. And a good one IMHO. For most of the other tenants, this is one of the few good places to stay while working in the area. If you are transiting through the area, you have only a few choices for a quick overnight stop. If East bound, stay in Abq, if you cant make Amarillo, where there are many good options. If West bound, as we have often been, here are your over night choices: Stop in Santa Rosa (not recommended); the Anton Chico rest area at MM 251; Cline's Corner for $25; the Rattlesnake Draw rest area at MM 207; push on to Moriarty (not recommended) or Abq, another hour or so. Here are the downsides of Clines Corner: 1) No reservations, spaces are allocated first-come. 2) When you call I am not sure you get any accurate info about the spaces available. All this aside, I could not be more pleased with the reception we got when arriving there late on 05/03/2021. A guy ran out in the pouring rain to see if a site was available for us. There was. The morning cleared into a beautiful New Mexico day before we departed. Life is good!

When we arrived at 5pm, the RV park was full but they said we could stay in the dirt lot next to the RV park. There were no hook-ups but that was fine. We just needed to rest after my husband had driven 10+ hours. The lot was very well lit and felt safe. The noise level actually wasn’t too bad. We started out all alone but the next morning 7 other RVs had joined us. It’s fine for a one-nighter, easy pull off, and free.

I made a reservation April 6, 2021 for May 26, 2021, I received an email on May 20 stating "per my request, reservation cancelled". I called this morning and told them I did not make such a request. The lady stated, George, the new owner cancelled me because he wanted more long-term RV's. That's his new policy, no single or short reservations.
GOOD LUCK WITH THAT GEORGE. I certainly won't recommend his park.
