“trails for biking and hiking”
Cleburne State Park mountain bike trails offer 5.5 miles of beautiful scenery with a variety of challenges for all experience levels. The terrain on the trail is as diverse as the hills. You will experience treacherous downhills, fast smooth flats, and everything in between. The technical and wooded trails form an entire loop that has made this trail a favorite for mountain bikers in training or those who enjoy a challenging ride. The trail will test your skills and endurance and is well worth your time! Fishing and boating the clear blue waters of Cedar Lake is a wonderful way to spend the day with your family. Note: Boats may not create any wake on this lake and personal watercraft (i.e. jet skis, seadoos, etc.) are not allowed. Currently no ice, groceries, food or camping supplies are available within the park. The park has a variety of campsites, including full hook-up sites, a Primitive Area for youth groups, and screened shelters. Group facilities include, a Group Camp with a dining hall and 2-barracks that can hold up to 48-people overnight, and the new "Cedar Lodge" group hall with an attached kitchen, outdoor fireplace and a recreation area.

This was our first trip with the new Aframe popup. We picked a site with full hookups and had no issues at all.
The park was fairly empty because of the midweek heat - heat advisory, 100+ Our spot had enough shade and the camper has a/c.
The loop we were on had flush toilets and showers. The showers could have used a little maintenance. There were other showers near a public beach (walkable) that were much nicer. The swimming area was clean and had an adjacent playground for younger kids.
The worst part of the stay was lack of cell signal and wifi that was only available at certain venues - not accessible at our camp site.
It was quiet and we saw some deer in the meadow on two occasions,

This is a nice little Texas State Park with a beautiful little spring fed lake as the center piece. It is a great park for family camping. The main draw back is the limestone mining opperation on the SW side of the park. When the wind is blowing from that direction, moswt of the summer, there is a dust cloud that blow across the park. If you have breathing issues this could be very bad. Other than that, the park is great!

Went last July (2018); yes hot air but far less humidity than we’re used to. Nice, quiet site. Restrooms/Shower needs more attention. NO signal for T-Slowble, had to drive out of the park and down the road for that. Overall pleasant experience. Will return.

We camped here in a lake front premium campsite in Poplar Point on Memorial Day weekend by making on-line reservations 165 days prior to arriving. Site #57 (back-in) was extremely unlevel side-to-side and was barely long enough to accommodate our 28 ft trailer. The asphalt campsite parking pad sharply dropped off on the lake side. The sewer connection was uphill! Really don't understand how any of this is considered PREMIUM! These premium sites are at a strange angle to the road so be ready to do some creative backing up!
This park is next to the Texas Lime Company, which operates two limestone kilns and pulverizes limestone. The noise from this plant over the holiday weekend NEVER stopped! We had gritty dust on everything! It is a real shame this dusty mess is sooooo close to the Park. Nice small lake and quiet campground. We only saw one squirrel the entire 4-day weekend.
Town of Cleburne is 20 minute drive where you will find the best hand-dipped ice cream at Braum's!
We traveled to the Scarborough Renaissance Faire from this state park which was nearly an hour drive.
No AT&T service and spotty TPWD Wi-Fi.

Was my first visit and I immediately fell in love with the spacious sites in the Poplar Loop. Our site had a beautiful view, great shade, and easy access to the lake. Hiked the Coyote Trail, White Tail Trail, and a little of the Fossil Ridge Trail. Tried to rent a double kayak but solar powered vending machine wasn’t working. Will try again next trip! Only downside is the “background noise” from the nearby lime plant. Guess I got used to it because it wasn’t too distracting.

First stay we were right in the lake. The noise from the lime company is obnoxious but it didn’t ruin the visit. Second stay in space 22. Great spot, really shady and lots of surrounding space even though we are on the road. Park staff is super friendly and helpful. The park is clean. My favorite hiking spot so far! AT&T 1 bar LTE but I was still able to stream Netflix and Sling TV all weekend using my phone’s internet.
I would definitely recommend this park for day trips or overnight!

The spaces were very roomy. Popular point has a little cell phone service. North Creek loop had almost no cell phone service. The swimming area was not crowded at all.

My first solo trip with my new travel trailer and it was pretty good. The site has a very uneven hard surface pad with a slight drop off to the dirt and grass where there was a nice picnic table with a lantern stand near it and then a fire pit with a flip up grate over it beyond that. Not open to the lake, but still a nice view, and lots of trees around. Very quiet campground. Friendly people; I met all my neighbors, which I loved. Sprint cell phone coverage ranged from LTE to None, with it being more toward none or 3G mostly.

This is a good state park for a fun little getaway from the city or for a short stay while en route to another destination. We stayed here one night in our travel trailer at the beginning of a long road trip. The grounds are immaculately kept and the rest rooms in the RV campground were very clean. There are hiking (nothing spectacular) and biking trails and a nice little swimming spot with a grassy area for sunning or picnicking. To light sleepers, a problem may be early morning truck noise from a nearby quarry but this did not bother us at all. Another small problem was the opening to the sewer drain was up pretty high off the ground in relation to our rig so we had to improvise a bit to get our black tank to drain properly. It worked out OK and we were here just 1 night anyway. Yes, I would stay here again if passing through this part of the state.
