Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on September 07, 2023We loved this campground! With gorgeous wooded sites, great trails, and a giant lake with multiple boat launch areas and even a sandy beach it was nearly perfect. We stayed in site 11 in the B loop. It was very private and quiet. I would highly recommend walking the shore trail, and if you have a way to get out on the lake do it!

Totally worth not having hookups to be on the lake. Wish we had more time to stay here. Even my son asked about staying longer as soon as we pulled up. Nice spacious wooded sites. Boat noise is a little loud, but I can put up with that with a spot this nice.

This time of year (October) this campground is walk up only. We got there as quick as we could and are glad we did as we were able to grab an awesome site. There are tent sites and RV sites here and the campground is gorgeous. It’s right on a lake (so expect boat traffic) and there are several loops all along the lake. Those loops are connected by a trail that I enjoyed walking on. Internet service is spotty there – our Verizon hotspot worked ok, but the Sprint was super slow. There are mountain biking trails that you can access right from the campground so that was nice. You can also go on a short hike up one of the knobs. However, there really isn’t a good view at the top. I loved this campground and would go back in a heartbeat! In fact, I didn’t want to leave!

Price reflects Senior discount. This is a beautiful area and our site wasn’t close to the lake so we had minimal boat noise. Spacious, private, wooded sites with asphalt were pretty level. The only ‘ding’ is that there was no water at the sites, so we had not filled our tank prior to arriving. We were just close enough to the loop faucet with our hoses. Bathrooms and showers were decent but water temp was set and shower had to be restarted every 45 seconds. Over the weekend some vandals got in and made a mess. Hosts were friendly but not intrusive. Loved biking all the loops. Our AT&T service was exceptional, Verizon just ok. I don’t think there’s a bad site in this whole campground.

Beautiful sites, well maintained with great tent pads. Ample (wet) wood. Fair bathrooms. Just unpleasant for us. I am writing this at midnight. Too noisy to sleep. Our original plans fell through and we happened upon here. Granted, it is Friday in the summer, but it still feels excessive. If you want quite, seek elsewhere. Party on.

We were only here one night and thought we'd like to hike some of the trails. The showers were clean, but the restroom was occupied by Daddy Long Legs (which freaked me out).

Stayed here 3/27/19. The campsites are developed and include fire pit and picnic table. We were very impressed by the quality of our site pad and the number of amenities at this campground. We chose a primitive site and were very happy with our stay. We would stay here again in the future.

Spots are spread out with a lot of privacy. We had 3 bars of service which allow us to work remotely. During the week we one of two sites occupied in one of the loops. Beautiful walking paths along the water. Friendly campground staff and hosts. Noise from boaters on the weekend.

Probably the cleanest bath houses I have experienced in a national forest and the showers are private. We had a double site (only one available) and no discounts are available on double sites thus the cost. Vast majority of sites were well spaced out with foliage between. There are numerous loops but not all have electricity and none have water at site but spigots fairly close by. Some loops have nice water views but few are electric. Red River Gorge and Natural Bridge State Park are about 1 hour away. Shopping (@Morehead) is about 25 minutes away. Will go back for a longer stay. Some have complained about boat noise but rain cut that down.
