Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on March 28, 2024This park is situated right across the highway from Cle Elum, close to shopping, coffee and restaurants. It's treed and rustic, with paved roads and gravel, level, sites. Some sites have full hook-ups and some have only water and electric. No Wi-Fi. The campground lies directly adjacent to the Yakima river, and some sites actually back up to the river, though there is a high bank, so there are only one or two site where you might actually have a view of the river. You also can't hear it, as the highway noise is pretty loud — loud enough that it makes opening windows unpleasant. Quiet campground otherwise, with well-spaced sites. There's an RV parts and repair right next door, owned by the same people. Lots of mosquitoes in summer!
Dog-friendly; good walking trail along the river. Great Verizon reception.

I recently had a business conference at nearby Suncadia resort. The $250/night rooms at the resort were not as appealing as bringing my house with me and staying at Whispering Pines.
We had a great overall experience. The sites are spacious and our site was relatively private. Each site has 50/30/20 amp, cable TV, and water hook-ups. There were trash bins every few sites. There are no sewer hookups due to the Yakima River being literally a few feet from the campground. The park is well maintained but not overly manicured. They've got a reasonable well equipped RV parts store. There's a bathhouse that appears to be relatively new.
We arrived Thursday night after hours. The campstore was closed but the camp hosts were kind enough to stay up long enough to greet us and direct us to our site. In the morning we registered and paid at the campstore. We met the owners who were friendly and welcoming.
We liked the proximity to Cle Elum (about a mile to downtown), Roslyn (a couple miles), and Suncadia Resort (about 5 miles). We visited restaurants and stores at each place during our four day stay.
This campground is dog friendly. There's an off leash dog run. There's also a nice hiking trail along the Yakima River.
The name Whispering Pines is a bit ironic, because realistically the only thing you'll hear is the traffic on I-90. Tent trailer and tent campers may want to bring ear plugs or run a fan for some white noise.
The noise level from I-90 is the only negative thing I have to say. We'll stay here again next time we have occasion to visit the Cle Elum, Roslyn, Suncadia area.

A very nice Rv park tucked away along the Yakima River. Gravel sites with water, sewer and electricity. Check in was easy, website has a very good map and easy to make reservation. Met one of the owners in the office and he was very nice and easily answered my question. I will definitely stay here more often.

Space C38 backs right up against the Yakima River where there is a walking trail. When we stayed in October, river was at it's lowest. During spring and early summer, water is high, fast and cold. The loop that we were on is paved and our space was on gravel. Just needed 1 board to make level. All the sites in that loop area are close together. Tree branches and scrubs have been removed so you can see all your neighbors. It was in the mid 40's and breezy so no one was really out to make that a problem. I90 highway noise was very evident when out of your rig. Not bad inside. Entire park was clean. Front desk people were very friendly. Some of the sites on " Original Loop " (13-21) might be tough for trailers. Best for truck campers or small motorhomes. Rest of the spots seem OK for any rig. All sites had picnic tables. None had fire rings. Could not have a fire anyway because of the burn ban ( in late October ). Would stay again when it's warmer and you could get out to play more. VERY easy access from highway when coming from the east.

You can hear interstate traffic during the day but at night it’s peaceful. The pond during the day is a nice place to relax. The store has ample supplies for your camper. Showers and bathrooms are ok. Camp employees drive through a couple times a day to check on things. Wi-fi is spotty. We would stay here again.

The location is all by itself on the other side of the freeway with some river frontage. Some really well positioned camp spots.

I agree with the other review, all is good, expect freeway noise. I-90 freeway is very close, so the freeway noise was loud in the RV utility hook up area, but the dry camping area is a ways off in trees by the Yakima River. The freeway noise was not as noticeable in that area. Nice little pond for swimming and Kayaking. Two local towns, Roslyn and Cle Elum were fun to explore with the history of coal mining and the Milwaukee Railroad in this area. Most sites in the hook up area had paved 8 x 10 concrete patios, conveniently placed for access to your rig. The site were wide and long, nice to have extra room for all of the outside toys, grills, portable gazebos, propane fire places. There was a burn ban in effect, so the propane fire places was the only option for an outdoor fire. We differently will be back to stay, as this was only 2 hours east of Seattle.

We enjoyed our stay here from June 26th to July 10th. Even though it is a RV park it has the feel of a state park. We had a full hook-up back-in site and only had a neighbor on the driver side and across from us. There was no site on the passenger side, just trees/bushes and the building for the restrooms, showers and laundry. Because of this, this site offered some privacy. Laundry was fairly priced. Not the best machines in the world, but got the job done. We had no complaints here, just some highway noise, but it wasn't that bad. Great walking trail along the Yakima River and also a nice walk down Hanson Ponds Rd, which leads to a public fishing area. When we were here they were working on future RV sites. They offer propane and there is a dump station (for park guests only). They also have a small store on the premises. Plenty of places to walk your dog. They also have an off leash dog park. Park is very close to amenities. We would definitely stay here again if in the area.

We decided to stay here due to its close proximity to the town of Cle Elum and to get away from town for awhile. Our trip to this RV park was during winter, so there was very low occupancy while we were there. It is located just off the I-90 on the south side of the interstate, but well within walking distance (½ mile) of Cle Elum. There was great hiking and biking trails near by to connect yourself with nature and the culture of the area. One of the trails we walked took us up to the town of Roswell. This was a great trail and was mostly snow covered when we were there, making it a great place to snowshoe, snowmobile or cross country ski. The trails in the area were well kept and in good condition for hiking, biking or just to explore. The RV park itself was very limited on site availability at the time due to snow fall. We were notified of a change of reservation sites a couple of days before arrival due to the snow and access to the sites. We arrived to find that they had plowed the major roads and our sites access. The store onsite provided a wide variety of needs in case something broke or was needed for your camping needs. They responded well with the guidelines of the state regarding COVID and were very well to work with. Access to the park was good for our 42' GD Momentum, and our site had 50 AMP service with water. A dump station was near and provided the ability to empty tanks as needed. The site was level with a gravel base and long enough for our trailer and truck. The sites were mostly tree filled making some shade for when the sun did appear, but not hindering the height of the trailer. WiFi was reliable and good for us while we stayed a the park. This park was close to I-90, and did have background traffic noise, but it was not annoying as it was more of constant background noise. We liked the proximity of this park with the many areas to visit while in Central Washington (Roslyn, Ellensburg, Leavenworth and Wenatchee). Overall this is a very nice park with great walking areas near the Yakama River and we would stay here again.
