Fairly busy campground, especially popular with the locals from the valleys on both sides of Mingus Mountain. Nice escape from the summer heat (20 degrees cooler). Still, there were a few open spots all weekend as the summer storms (and hail!) seemed to keep folks away. Websites say the maximum people per site is 5 but we were allowed 9 (4 adults, 5 kids) with permission. A few other spots had more. Sites are pretty close together, with numerous families, but it was remarkably quiet at night during our stay. Keep in mind that this is right near the highway so you do get road noise that seems to tamper off late at night. There is another campground across the highway and up the mountain, Mingus, that was much more isolated and emptier, but I don’t think there’s water available on site. There are also some nice dispersed camp sites nearby, but no water or toilets, and very muddy in spots. The camp hosts were kind and kept the Potato Patch grounds very clean. Composting toilets had freshly painted interiors and were some of the best I’ve seen, very clean. Activities we did included a drive up Mingus Mountain to take in the views and a shortened hike along the Woodchute trail. Mingus Lake is not much to look at, more of a mud puddle, but perhaps it was due to a seemingly extreme low level of water. All in all, an excellent campground.

We usually visit this campground once every summer. There are two sections in this campground, one for RVs where the sites are close together and have electric hookups. Not much shade or privacy. The other section has no electricity, tents and smaller RVs camp there, it’s more secluded and much more shady. We have camped in both sections.
Sites can now be reserved online which has its pros and cons. Some people book a site, preventing others from booking, but then they never show up. We do try to reserve in advance to avoid disappointment. During our past weekend visits there were always a few spots available in the non electric area but the RV sites were all occupied.
There is some noise from motorcycles going to Jerome but that doesn’t bother us. Facilities here are clean.

We continued on the road past the campground to a dispersed area past the Woodshute Trailhead. Somewhat crowded for dispersed camping but clean and quiet. A word of caution if in an RV or trailer. The road gets rough and can get a little tight.

The camp host kept the sites & restrooms very clean. There is some highway noise in the background but still very peaceful. The sites are shady and have a fire ring and picnic table. We will definitely be back.

Didn’t have a chance to camp here ( 1Jan 21 ) because it was closed down. Maybe due to snow, didn’t stick around. Went next door to BLM area ( free camping) because it was the next best thing available at the time. If you don’t mind disperse camping, this place for you. Plenty of camping area’s and fire rings, and the cell service for Verizon not so good .
This was our first trip in our trailer. Like a trial run for us before we hit the road.
Arriving was east, we had a reservation and it was marked on our spot. Host came by later in the afternoon to get our plate numbers.
We loved this site. Very quiet. There is some road noise but it’s hardly noticeable.
Bathroom is a vault composting toilet and it was VERY clean. The grounds are very well kept.
If you stay here you are only a 15-20 mins drive to Jerome. Take the scenic drive and have lunch there.

Great campground. Most spaces are spacious. There are only 12 spots with hookups so the camp is relatively quiet. Grounds and restrooms are very clean. Electric hookups only. Trash dumpster available. Water is available but not to fill your trailer with a hose. No dump station. They do have another area with no hooks ups which is in the woods and very nice if you want to boondock or tent camp. They are only open May 1st to October 31st each year.

We loved the stay. Camp hosts were amazing. The drive from Jerome was marked as the “easy” route by ToGoRV for our rig. We were barely getting Nader the limit of 50’ for the switchback mountain climb our rig had to do. On the edge of your seat with thin roads and blind curves. No room to even turn around. So come from Prescott if you are towing or in anything over 20 feet.
Other then the app navigation issue, it was amazing. No cell service. Hiking is beautiful. Loved it!

The spaces for RV are excellent- paved and electric with great landscaping. Easy check in with a reservation. The host allowed me to come in early as my site was available. Only negative was my site happened to have a big lump due to tree roots under the pavement. It was well marked with white paint but I had to situate my trailer so my wheels were not on it. It also skewed the pavement a bit so I had to use a board to level. Not a big deal but most other sites were level. Bathrooms super clean. There is a road off the road in that allows nfs boondocking, it’s says no turnaround for trailers but there were places to turn around. There is a parking area up there for a trail and my dogs lived running off leash there. It’s also the only spot nearby I could get cell service with ATT.
