“a gift of nature”
Pearls are a gift of nature and Pearl Lake State Park is just that. Just a few miles off the road, it feels like an escape into the backcountry of Colorado.Nestled in the mountains north of Steamboat Springs, this peaceful park sits in a quiet lakeside setting. Overlooking Farwell Mountain, visitors camp along the shoreline and on a ridge with amazing views. There’s excellent fly and lure fishing for native cutthroat trout. A trail takes visitors along the shoreline and leads them deep into the Routt National Forest. Picnicking is picture perfect. This is a true escape from the day-to-day routine.

Great spot, fishing just OK, Steamboat lake was better. Huge trout. Nice spot with somewhat less traffic than Steamboat Lake. Very dark sky’s for stars, except for the blaring bathroom light, stay away. I don’t know why SPs have to do this, the only negative.

Pearl Lake is like an annex campground to Steamboat Springs State Park. It's like the quiet, sibling.
We stayed in the upper loop which was great. The best sites are upper loop, but closer to the lake. Then you get the longest light (lower level gets shaded earlier from the hill) and the lake view! Campsites were beautifully maintained. There is one flush toilet in the upper loop and some vaults.
One previous review which I thought was oddly specific but now I completely agree with was the complaint about the super bright bathroom light. There is so little light pollution and so the stars are amazing!!! (Except for right next to the bathroom)
Also, camp host was not enforcing the fire ban (despite a fire right next to their spot). Boo hiss.
Overall great tho!!
