Our Take

Cincinnati's stunning art deco Union Terminal train station is a treasure that has fittingly been preserved as the Cincinnati Museum Center. Murals, carvings, and other details are hidden throughout the natural history, local history and children's museums. There's also an OMNIMAX theater, the striking rotunda lobby with whispering walls, an ice cream parlor covered in Rookwood tiles, and Tower A, where you can still see the trainyard. The fact that it inspired the Justice League's Hall of Justice is the icing on the cake.

Kids can climb, crawl, explore and learn about themselves and the world around them with hands-on fun for all ages at one of the top children's museums in the country! Eight exhibit areas, including two especially designed for preschool-aged children and younger, and more than 1,800 hours of programming makes fun and learning go hand in hand.

Who wouldn't want to visit the inspiration for The Hall of Justice and the greatest example of Art Deco architecture in the world?  It's a kick-ass museum - especially for kids - but all will enjoy.  Check out the Omnimax theater too.  Oh, and if that weren't enough, it's still a functioning Amtrak station.

The 2nd largest half dome in the world behind Sydney Opera House. Love this damn building and it's art deco goodness with all my heart.

Really fun place to spend a lazy, rainy Sunday as it's never too crowded and there are a lot of fun activities to take part in. Free parking, too!

It’s no X-Mansion, but this is one of my favorite buildings in Cincinnati. Worth a visit for the ceiling and Cincinnati diorama alone.

One of the most beautiful and storied buildings in Cincinnati. Home to the Omnimax theatre where they are constantly changing from one hour-long documentary to the next amazing one. Definitely worth going to see as many of them as possible. They also bring some pretty cool exhibits to the city, I went to see Bodies here a few years ago. It's a great place to take kids on a rainy or blustery winter day.

Love the diorama of Cincinnati, and the kids will love the kids museum. But beyond that the murals on the inside of the dome are worth the visit all by themselves.

This place is worth a visit, even if it's just to see the building, which is an art deco masterpiece that used to serve as a train station. Some of the exhibits in the history and natural history museums could use a little love, but they're still interesting and informative. They also have a great children's museum and OMNIMAX theater. A must see in Cincinnati!

Probably my favorite part is whispering on one side of the dome and seeing if your friend can hear you on the other side. I went with my niece and probably had just as much fun as she did if not more.

I absolutely love this place. So many memories of learning about the world around us as a kid here. The main room's ceiling is a beautiful mosaic that pays homage to Cincinnati and the people who've shaped it. They have a wonderful Omnimax theater that plays breathtaking documentaries. This is a must for families and individuals alike!
