“classic route 66 digs”

The Lincoln Motel is a classic motor court, with well-landscaped grounds, a cool neon sign, and a driveway that sweeps in front of a row of neat little buildings, each of which houses two units. Metal chairs out front are available for travelers who want to spend a summer evening watching the world go by on Route 66. Historic neon sign was recently repainted by volunteers from the Oklahoma Route 66 Association. Small pets allowed.

This motel was adorable and kitschy on the outside but don't be fooled! It was dirty, there was barely enough room to put the suitcases, none of the outlets in either of our two rooms worked, there was a funky smell coming from the shower and the rooms looked like they are about to fall apart on the inside. The air in one room wouldn't work at all and the air in the other room was so loud it was hard to sleep over. I definitely won't be staying there on my next Route 66 road trip!

Unless you want to experience the Oklahoma version of the Bates Motel, look for a reliable chain. I was hopeful that things had improved and that this would be a charming novel place to stay one night. If you are ok with a funky smell, small strange room and using your own pillow, this is for you.
