“A 1980s hand-built, very large, colorful green dragon with tiny wings”
Was used to advertise a Fireworks store that burned down. Now there is a General Dollar store in front of it
Easy spot from the highway if headed west. We stopped for a pic and got gas.
The dragon is now located behind Dollar General
This can be seen from Interstate 75 which runs behind the Dollar General - and yes, it is in fact missing an ear.
Do NOT go here! It is located in an extra sketchy area and it’s behind a Dollar General now. The dragon is dirty and missing an ear. Skip this “attraction” and you’ll thank me later.
Went here on our way to Gatlinburg. Great way to break up the trip and see something random and fun! It’s located right behind the dollar general. You can walk along the side of the building and head back there. Some taller grass but overall fun little stop
Went into the dollar general to ask how to get to the back to see the dragon. The girl tells us the dragon burned when the fireworks store burned. I could clearly see the dragon when we pulled into the parking lot. Grass and weeds was grown up and could not get to back of bldg.
My grandson is going to be so excited when I print the pictures I took for him. He's 3 and LOVES dragons and dinosaurs. It is literally behind the Dollar General and falling into a sad state of disrepair but we're were in luck and the weeds had all been chopped down and were dead so we got close enough to get "Selfies" lol.
Fun photo op. Why not stop? Can spot from the road.
Driving on the highway it is worth telling the kids to put the iPad down and get ready to see something cool. Sparked a discussion about dragon slaying and the moral dilemma that goes along with being a hero so we found it entertaining. Don’t know if it would be worth a stop if you didn’t need gas though.
Funny roadside attraction. Right behind Dollar General. We were able to get close since weeds had recently been cut down.
