Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on November 01, 2020We stayed in the A loop which is actually the equestrian camp. Sites are huge, with very large, level cement pads for rig with picnic table, lantern hook, water and electric. Each equestrian site has access to a corral but horses are not necessary to camp. Entrance station is unmanned, and the sign says if it is unmanned reservations are tequired, as that is apparently the only way to pay. Luckily, there is cell service. We arrived about 3:30 on a Friday afternoon and while the B loop was pretty picked over, we had multiple sites to choose from in A loop. B loop is much closer to the dump station and boat ramp and would probably be more desirable if you are pulling a boat as it is closer to the lake. Equestrian camp is actually on the hill hust above the lake, with good views but limited access if the lake was full. Right now you can hike around it on the exposed shoreline. All sites are deeply shaded by large oak trees. The bathroom/shower is strangely set back far from the campsites with no trails to it. You have to try to walk between campsites to get to it. There are four stalls, the only two i saw were for both genders, handicapped accessible, with a toilet, sink, and shower in each. Although the showers were nice and hot, the low flow shower head only emits about a teaspoon of water. It was very hard to get your hair washed with so little eater. Road in is asphalt but very rough, could definitely use resurfacing. Cattle ranch down the road has more bulls than i’ve ever seen in one place before, which emit a constant low grumble. Large herd of cows in pasture seem to bellow constantly, joined by an occasional donkey braying. Plus a train rumbles by in the predawn hours.

Beautiful campground, However the equestrian camp sites Do Not include the horse stalls located at each site even though you reserve the site the stalls are up for anyone to use! This isn't anywhere on the website, nor the email confirmation you get with your reservation and when you call them they won't know what you're talking about. Be aware anyone can put their horses in the stalls at any camp site, those are not yours even though you reserved the camp site where they are located. A reservation doesn't guarantee a place for your horses. The trails are perfect for unshod horses, all sand.
