“lakeshore beaches!”
Operated by Carroll County, this west Georgia park is best known for its large sand swimming beach. It is a recreational haven for water lovers looking for boating and fishing opportunities as well. Visitors can enjoy camping, picnicking, miniature golf, volleyball, pedal boats and horseshoes. A short nature trail and paved lake loop invite guests to enjoy wooded scenery. A small lodge located near the beach features six units, each with a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, living area and bedroom. Campers can settle in to a small campground. The park is named after a local businessman who operated the property as a private park from 1954 until 1971.

This was just supposed to be an overnight stop, but we ended up staying an extra night. We had made reservations by phone, but arrived after hours. The camp host met us with a packet already made up with our name on it and maps and instructions. I couldn't get my JetPack to connect, but the office had a wifi connection with the password included on our instructions. It didn't reach to the campground, but it did reach the picnic shelters. While sitting in the shelter doing email I found myself surrounded by curious geese, ducks, and ducklings. Apparently they were expecting a handout. Kind of an odd park in a way, not actually a state park, it is a county park and was once commercial. I can definitely see us stopping again.

This is now a county park. Phone number is the same. $24 for 62+. Was very quiet during the week. Easy, large, level sites in the tall trees with water and 30A electric. Dump station on the way out. Campground host on site if arriving after 5 PM. On lake with swim area.

Was pouring rain. Over 62 price per nite is $24.00. Includes water and electric. No sewers at site, had to use dump site. Nice and quiet for a good nights rest while traveling, about 5-6 miles off Rt 20. Wi do available only at main building.

The park itself is nice, but the campground is down in a gulch, and the RV sites are not diagonal. It's not an easy place to back in a travel trailer uphill! Zero wifi in the campground, but wifi is available up at the visitor center. The trees are nice, so lots of shade.
We had a 1 night stop on our way out of Georgia.

If the bathrooms and showers had been cleaned, this would be a great campground. Lots of mold in shower area. Awful.
Mentioned to staff in Visitor’s Center, she seemed not interested. Said they’re working to hire someone to do that. Doesn’t make sense to me.
We were considering staying longer, but not now.
No signal for phones.

We were just passing through here. It was $30/night for us (under 60 yrs). It’s not a site specific place so you pay and then it’s first come, first served after 1pm checkin (1pm checkout too). Showers were good & hot but a little cramped. Women’s bathrooms were cramped in that your knees basically hit the bathroom door (if you use the bathrooms near the camp host). Can’t speak for any other bathrooms. All in all we would come back. We were here mid-week in March and it was almost full but no one was using the lake. Very peaceful setting. Water and electric only (50 & 30 amp). Dump station on the way out.

We stayed 4 days at the 50 amp FHU sites. Arrived early in the afternoon with a reservation made that morning for two days. Sites are unassigned, so selection is first come, first served. But all have lake views. We planned to visit friends in the area, but we extended 2 more days as the park was so lovely. Too chilly for the beach but, in season, it looks fun. Picnic, playground, and mini golf available. Plenty of trails and hiking opportunities. Spacious sites, modern facilities. Did not visit bathhouse. Didn’t observe any laundry facilities. Went to Carrollton for dinner twice. Quaint downtown. Highly, highly recommend.
