“Near the site were Daniel Boone and his men were captured”
Located in Mt. Olivet in northeastern Kentucky, Blue Licks Battlefield is near the site where Daniel Boone and his men were captured by Shawnee Indians during a salt making expedition. The park has a lodge, cottages, and camping available for overnight guests to the park. There is also nearly 6 miles of trails open for hiking. The federally endangered Short's Goldenrod calls Blue Licks home and can be seen at the 15 acre nature preserve. A junior-Olympic size pool and museum are other attractions the park has to offer.

This is an amazing place to stop! The museum contains tons of local artifacts and the lodges gift shop is full of affordable, unique trinkets! The restaurant has a decent buffet, serves alcohol and has a pretty diverse menu. If you’re in on the weekends ask for Monica! She’s super sweet and totally on top of it!
It's unfortunate the clientele at this park was so unruly because the park itself was really neat. There a historic pioneer and battle museum and gift shop onsite and when we were there they were having an antique firearms show going on that was pretty interesting. The buffalo trace runs right through the park and the battlefield and trails are really interesting, so it's a cool park but because of the experience we won't be back. People were out of control noisy, kids were running and riding bikes right through our campsite (!) and they wee up passed midnight screaming and hooting & hollering, dogs were barking continuously and the experience was really bad! Access, cleanliness and location were all okay, onsite mini golf, phone reception was sketchy and the sites seemed ok but a little on the small side for a state park. Still probably bigger than most private parks.

This state park is a little off of the beaten path. A very nice, well kept up campground. We didn't go into the area of the lodge and swimming pool as we were only here 1 night. A lot of road noise from the highway but not enough to keep you awake at night. My only complaint is the location of the water and electric. You MUST have extra water hose and electric extension cable in this park. Services and be 30-40 feet away and every other site will have the services on the curb side of the RV so you will need to run your hookups under the RV to reach them. Sites are level asphalt surface that are 90 degree to the street so it will take a little extra effort to back in. I would suggest you pull head in to the campsite opposite yours, if it is empty, so you can back straight up to your site. We camped here with a travel trailer

Site 5 was 90 degrees to the road and tough to back our 33’ 5th wheel into. The site was also narrow and very sloped so make sire you have good chocks. As mentioned in a previous review, the power and water connections are between every other site, make sure you have a long hose and power cord.

As others have said, there's noise from hwy 68 during the day and a bit at night (my site was fairly close to the road). Hookups are indeed far away. No problem parking my 20 ft. Roadtrek, but I was on the back edge of the pad for my electrical cable to reach.
Lots of trees and grass, playground, laundry area, though washing machines were out of order. Showers were closed, too.
Friendly staff. Nearby lodge (closed Mondays and Tuesdays) and restaurant.
