“access to nature's most awe-inspiring work”
Capulin Volcano provides beautiful views, and a reminder of the history of this remote part of New Mexico.
Stopped here today. Great stop if you have the chance to do it. 20$ to the top, weren’t accepting cash just cards. But they did accept National Park Pass. About 1.5 hour stop if you want to walk the area. There is a trail around the top of the monument and one leading to crater. It was chilly and overcast when we went, beginning of July.
Stopped here today. Sweet surprise. We drove to the top and walked around the rim. Took about one hour. Amazing views. Great little gift shop. Cost $20 or free for veterans or American the Beautiful pass. Stop if you have time. Nice little gem.
Pretty cool stop on our way to CO!! Before you go up, there is a nice park store with bathrooms and souvenirs, park rangers to educate! Doesn’t take long to drive to the top then you can walk the rim of the volcano which is 40min but we spent about 15 and turned around. Bring water! There are other trail options too, but elevation got to us a little. Beautiful views too!
Must see. Great trails! Don’t be scared of heights.
$20/car. It was a beautiful view!!
This was such a cool stop for me and my kids. We hiked around the rim (ages 5, 8, and 10) in about an hour or so. They thought it was so cool to see a real volcano!
It’s absolutely beautiful and worth the stop! Be warned it is steep and a little scary if your not used to driving on mountains. If you’re brave enough make the drive... it’s definitely worth it!!!
If you are driving by then stop in but don't make it a destination. It is now $20 to drive to the top. Best to consider a national park pass?
This thing is so much bigger and higher than you expect. It was a perfect $15 (per car), one hour stop on a long trip. I highly recommend you check it out if you have the time.
WATCH OUT FOR THE FALSE CINCH BUGS!!! They seem immune to bug spray and are EVERYWHERE. Hair, inside shirts and pants, etc. They may not bite, but it feels like it. They like white, pearly, brighter, and shiny things, so they cling to the cars.
Otherwise, it was an amazing experience!
