Quiet Country setting. Don't let the long term rv's scare you away. This place is quiet, safe and a lot of good friendly people. Left stuff out all day and late into the evening and no one bothered anything while we visited San Antonio. As of 1-5-22 it is not big rig friendly. We were in a 32.5 5th wheel and the spot was to small but they had us set up across a couple of spots and all was good. They are doing a lot of improvements, including a pool so maybe when done they can accommodate larger rv's. Showers, restrooms, water and electric. New sewer system was being installed at the time we were there. Great place to stay then head to the city to see the sites. Loved loved this place . We even had deer come and visit.

I chose this campground for two reasons - the price and the location to the water. They price things interesting here. We've been traveling for 10 years and I have never come across a campground that charges per person. A single traveler would pay $15 and at the site next to it, the family of four is paying $60 - for the exact same thing. Interesting.
There is no access to water here - at least not right from the campground. The creek is dry and it's about a 1/3 mile walk to the river. The water table is really low. So if you're choosing this location for access to the river, check before you come. The pictures posted may not be accurate.
The campground is mainly full time RVer's and small block houses. It looked like they were trying to fix things up but it also looked like it's been that way for a long time. The sign in the bathrooms says "please excuse our dust" but it looks really old. The main door to the mens room is open and there is no way to keep it closed. So anyone walking by as I'm stepping out of the shower would have gotten a show. But the water was hot and it got the job done.
The people were very friendly. The sites are good. We felt safe. Lots of tent campers. The place needs work but we enjoyed our stay. We've gotten really good at being flexible and just going with the flow so we had no issues here, but I can see some people freaking out about the condition of this place.
Walmart is 25 minutes. There is a Dollar General Market a few miles up the road.
