“taking care of Custer County history”
Seven Valleys Historical Society organization was established in 1966 and in 1970 they took over the old medical building in Callaway. They now care for the Annex across the street, the original Custer County Courthouse that sits in Morgan Park and the Original Episcopal Church that was built in 1890. Doris Street told me the story of the bell that used to hang in the church but will soon be displayed outside in front of the church. Doris said Mr. Bryner contacted the company in England that made the Liberty Bell about making a bell for the church. Mr. Bryner told Mr. Taylor that they really couldn’t afford the bell. Mr. Taylor wrote to Mr. Bryner and said that if they could come up with the shipping costs they would make the bell for free. The bell is solid and Doris said he has a wonderful sound and is the cousin to the Liberty Bell.
