Great campground with friendly staff and campers. Enjoyed the lake and proximity to local hiking trails in the area. WiFi was spotty, the restrooms were acceptable and I wholeheartedly recommend camping here with one caveat: most sites are tight and quite a challenge to navigate in and out. We had trouble getting in and out of site 45 with our 28 foot trailer but lucky for us, had several campers safely guide us. So if you an experienced RVer and not newbies like us, you will enjoy your stay at HCC.

Only spent one night here, however it was beautiful. Barkley lake is a stone throw away. Beautiful well kept sites, Jake the campground host was very friendly, gravel spots, beautiful weather, nice and quiet, and just a great overall feel.Wishing this campground was closer to home.On a 2 month road trip this is currently our favorite.

Hurricane Creek is a good COE camp but is not as good as many (Gunther Hill for example.) But I would stay there again. Located on a beautiful lake with generous area between the campsites. roads are decent and manuverable.. The sites vary in size from small for trailers to large for big rigs.Camped in 40 ft. motorhome and site had plenty of room for RV and Toad. Some sites (mine for example) was a bit of a challenge to level but not as much trouble as some others Pads were surfaced but showing wear. Host was excellent, campground was clean. It is a very popular fishing area and attracts many families with kids. All the kids were supervised and were not an issue.

The road getting here was six miles of 'OMG, I'm gonna die, I'm gonna die' (insanely narrow, broken pavement, wavy, and everything I passed was at least as wide as I am -- farm tractor, trucks and trailers -- it was nuts.) Once you survive the road and get to the campground, it is quiet and lovely. I'm told that the weekends are not as quiet, but during my stay, I could have heard a pin drop any time of the day or night, and almost every site was taken. I only had one bar of AT&T, but my hotspot worked fine for internet (I didn't try to stream anything, and Google Maps struggled in satellite view.) There was lots of wildlife, in and out of the water, which is a good sign of a healthy forest, and plenty of grass. The lake was massive, but it had a funny smell when I got right up to it. People were swimming, but I wouldn't have risked it. That lake made me wish for a canoe or kayak, though. The camp hosts were wonderful. The bath house needed serious repairs; I didn't use it, but many people did, so it was obviously operational. There will be some leveling involved with some sites, and many are tight. The dump station loop was level. Because the campground is old, the gravel isn't deep, so as long as I watched out for pockets of deep gravel, I got around just fine in a power chair. I would certainly stay here again.

Whatever someone said about the roads, they are wonderful now! All resurfaced and smooth. Kind of narrow but smooth!
You can always count on the Corps of Engineers to have a great campground. We were disappointed we d they a sight along the lake, but ended up loving being next to the woods! Saw 5 deer and 4 squirrels and listened to hundreds of songbirds.
Oh very little cell service on my US Cellular!

While traveling west, I was able to reserve a nice campsite (#26 or #27) along the lake for a breezy night of slumber. Such a nice and natural setting kept clean and enjoyable for all. Hope to visit again for more time on the water!
