“The nation's finest”
If you want to spend a night or two at Lake Barkley, cabins and campgrounds aren’t your only choices. World-class Lake Barkley lodge, designed by Edward Durell Stone, seems to have just emerged naturally from the wooded shoreline that surrounds it. Using a post-and-beam wood construction of Western Cedar, Douglas fir, and three-and one-half acres of glass, the recently renovated Barkley Lodge complex provides a lake view from the private balconies of most of the 120 rooms and four suites. Open year-round. Rooms available by late afternoon. Lodge room check-out by 11:00am, local time. A limited number of lodge rooms will be available for pets.
Loved it here. My room was very comfortable with a beautiful view of the lake. The staff is amazingly considerate and friendly. My only "issue" is that I did not qualify what the wifi was like. There is strong coverage, but I need a faster connection for my job. I did not ask the correct questions when booking, so the fault is mine, not theirs. My stay is in November and I do not have enough time to explore, but there are plenty of events and activities here all year long, including upcoming Eagle Weekends and Elk Tours. I will have to make it back here someday!
