The Mojave Megaphone

The Mojave megaphone is a mysterious steel installation on top of a loose rocky hill in the Afton Canyon / Mesquite Hills area of California, between I15 and I40. Nobody knows who put the megaphone there or what it's really for, but it's worth a stop if you are in a 4X4 vehicle exploring Afton Canyon. It is located about 10 miles off the highway on dirt tracks that usually require an off road vehicle as there may be water to cross. The Megaphone itself is on top of a hill that requires a 10 minute strenuous hike.
