Reviews
This is a beautiful, picturesque trail enroute to two waterfalls, Tueeulala Falls and Wapama Falls. You'll begin at the O'Shaughnessy Dam and travel through the rock tunnel before venturing out. The trail is smooth until you hit that first curve, then it's nothing but rocks underfoot or steps the rest of the way. The reservoir is gorgeous and there are plenty of spots you can stop at to rest and take it all in. Not too many people venture out to this trail, so there are way fewer bodies at Hetch Hetchy than you find in Yosemite Valley. We took our time and completed 5 mile hike in 3.5 hours, but those in good shape can probably have it done in 2 or 2.5 hours if they're in a hurry. Only bathroom is on the road before you reach the parking lot, so be sure to go before you head out. You do have to walk through Tueeulala Falls, so waterproof shoes are advised, or at least an extra pair of socks in your backpack. You'll also get a little wet if you go out onto the bridge at Wapama. But seriously, how could you walk all that way and not go out onto the bridge to visit this beauty up close and personal?
