Pretty bad road, and you must go in at least one mile to camp. Up higher than the busy Furnace Creek area. February 2019
PLEASE PLEASE BRING A SHOVEL TO BURY YOUR POOP! AND YOUR TOILET PAPER! Nothing spoils nature and your experience of it like seeing that stuff.

Compared to the alternatives nearby (basically parking lots with RVs running generators) we loved this little secluded spot. 1 mile down Echo road and you can setup camp anywhere off the road. High clearance -4x4 recommended but I saw a person out there in a mini van. Would definitely stay here again

Didn’t make up to the camping area because the road is so bad to my 30’ class C.

Sorry McMansion on wheels crew. What a respite from the horde of Karen winter birds. Road is an easy drive from small campers or any type of car or truck. One morning I woke up and a guy was up there camping out of a mustang.

Today my wife and I drove here and ended up not staying. There is a sign there that says "no more dispersed camping, must reserve a site at the visitor center." In a 38' rig, it is impossible to turn around once you can read this sign. So we had to drive almost two miles up this choppy road on a difficult incline to where we found the first site just to turn back. The road is barely more than a gravel road with bushes in the middle of it that will scrape your paint (happened to us). I don't want to complain about something "free" but to put a sign there that basically asked us to turn around and not provide a way to turn around is frustrating; plus the visitor center didn't have anyone there when we pulled up.
The sites are basically big enough to pitch a tent on and nothing more. There wasnt a soul up there camping either. Dont go if you have a large rig. And if it's raining (like it was for us) be verrrry careful about flash floods there.

We booked site seven, and we were told by a Ranger that we can access it without a four-wheel-drive. That was not true! The access road is terrible, very stony, and we only made it to site 4 , almost getting stuck in the middle of the road. The sites are very, very remote. There is absolutely nothing there just stones and rocks. We paid $10 for no service. We do not recommend it, we would not come back.
