Pinnacles National Monument includes 16,000 acres and includes many trails to hike and explore. The park is famous for its basalt and granite rocks that attract climbers from around the world. There are also two caves to explore (Balconies and Bear Gulch caves), and plenty of wildlife to see including a good variety of birds and bats. Wildflowers also are abundant in the spring. The park is open year-round and the busiest times are mid-February to early June, when the weather is a little cooler (it gets quite hot in the summer). In addition to the one campground (accesses via East Entrance), there is also a picnic area, a pool, visitor center and playground.
