First off, GPS sent us up Milford Grade to reach this campsite which had the driver repeatedly yelling "Babe, we gonna die!" once it turned all to switchbacks and gravel. Our '89 Astro Van made it to the camp that was tucked away without us dying as predicted, which was nice. the GPS also, on the final stretch, wanted us to take an ATV/Offroad trail to the campground, insisting that it was a road, but we stayed on the finally paved again road a bit further and found a car entrance. Upon leaving in the morning we found that following that paved road took us down to Beckwourth, which was a much safer route to the camp.
The campground is small and with only huge trees, all sites are visible to each other so it looked ideal for a group camping trip to me. The bathroom was a well maintained drop toilet, very clean and pleasant. Each site had a fire pit, some with a cooking grate over them, bear boxes, and level parking. Not ideal for a huge Class A, but a Class C or smaller would be comfortable. There was no water available, so bring your own, and no trash so pack in, pack out.
We stayed in the middle of November so it was empty apart from us, and pretty cold, but the trees and valley we were in seemed to provide shelter, allowing a minimal amount of snow through to reach the forest floor. I imagine the campground would be a cool oasis in the summer, especially with the nearby stream. There was no phone reception(AT&T or T-Mobile) and very shifty GPS, so saving the route offline is advisable.

Followed previous reviewers advice on paying attention to the gps. Road from Beckwourth dirt and gravel nicely maintained. The loop around the campground was rough but doable. Nicely spaced spots, cute creek, clean pit toilet. Lots of great off-road trails to explore in the area. Had the site to ourselves with 2 groups moving in as we were headed out.
