Hog Island Campground

Lovely campground with lots of tall trees. Water, picnic table and fire ring. Dump site on way out. Huge, roomy campsites with lots of room between sites. Many families. Tents and a variety of RVs. Dirt roads and sites, could be muddy if it rains.

It's very rustic with narrow dirt roads, but the sites are huge! The sites can handle large RVs, but some will require good skill to back into them due to trees and the narrow road. Good clean facilities with showers and flush toilets. A boat ramp is available in the picnic area. The campground seems to be well known because it is nearly full, although the sites have water and nothing else.

Large campers can be tight driving through. Tent camping is the best. We like 12 because it’s big & roomy but it’s a walk to bathroom.

We stayed here for one night in Feb 2019. Hoping to just pay cash at the iron ranger but there are only 4 walk up sites and all were taken. We booked site 7. Cost was $15 + $6 for the online booking fee. Campground was very peaceful - no road noise at all! Sites are small to medium with decent privacy between them, and mostly shady but some some sun. Each site has a water spigot, and there is a bathroom with showers. Bathroom definitely needs a good scrubbing (very grimy), but we did take advantage of a good long hot shower :-) Nice access to the river, so bonus for those who have kayaks or a canoe.
