Confirmed by 4 users | Last reported on December 17, 2023Friendly staff, plenty of room to walk. It's off the interstate so you get less road noise although there is some truck traffic that comes by. We came down to take care of our FL residency needs and it was convenient for that. There are a couple of resident Sandhill Cranes that cruise through the CG, pretty fun to see.
Great tip that we got when checking in, if you need to get the VIN numbers on your vehicles verified for tags you can call the sheriff's department and they'll send a deputy out to fill out the paperwork removing the need to drive the RV down to the tag office.

Most of the campground has tight quarters between the trees, if you are not skilled with your rig tell them at the check in so they can get you a site you will be able to get into! The benefit of the tight quarters is having shade in the heat. There are sites that are 30 amp and those are in open pull-thru.
AT&T requires WeBoost and a directional antenna kit to get OK service. Verizon is good.
The pool is no more, so if you see that advertised don't be surprised when it is just a storage area now. Not sure what happened there.
They do the SmartWeigh on site and also fill your propane tanks there.

We came back to this campground because we consider it "home" using the Escapees mail service here. However, when we got here there was ZERO AT&T bars. AT&T has a problem in this area. We instead went North up to Blueberry Hill and had unbelievable AT&T service there.

At this Escapees park, we got our new rig Smart Weighed to learn if we were well matched and packed. Knowledgeable guy helped us understand the weights. We highly recommend this service for $50; a bargain to be safe on the road.
We use our phone hot spots for WiFi with Credo on Verizon network. Depending on the wind direction, and depending on the location of the donkey herd to the east, could be a might odiferous. Transient sites are drive thrus with FHUs and fairly level. Site 67 has limestones protecting/surrounding the sewer hookup making the drive thru a tad close to a leaning oak, which provided great shade until late afternoon. Showers and laundry sufficient.
Office closes midday for lunch, so staff could be stressed from hunger if you arrive then. Just saying. Escapees members are great folks and willingly share with fellow travelers. Cypress swamp to the north is frequented by owls.

Lots of trees for shade. Sites are irregular as too avoid old trees. On a country road but there is a quarry near by that has big trucks passing by. A nice community spirit with activities. No Wifi or cable TV, Bring your satellite.

This is an Escapee membership club campground offering SmartWeigh for RVs. We planned to stop here before we even started our full-time adventure back in June 2017. SmartWeigh is an extremely detailed measurement (wheel-by-wheel) of the weight you are hauling around on the road, so we highly recommend this service to anyone RVing. It's much better and more informative than a truck-stop scale.
Our dog met donkeys for the first time here. (see pics)

Escapees park just off 75 north. It is a no frills place but nice.Staying in a 30A spot and power was good.
Verizon was good no booster needed. Bars are not the best indication of service. Speed however is. 80mbps down and 40 up. Doesn't get better than this on the road
ATT was 3 down and 2 up without a booster.
TMobile was no signal but a booster was able to scrape up on bar.
One downside to this park is the noise early in the morning. Seems like the mine down the road has a lot of traffic early in the morning with dump trucks. Seemed to be from 5AM to 7AM only.
My site was a little unlevel but was able to barely get level with my jacks.
Walmart was a short drive thru town. Bushnell is a small town but has most things you could need.
Staff was friendly and always a plus at a CG.

We were on our way home from Panama City, FL back to St Petersburg, FL and due to heavy rains and traffic we would not make it back to our home park (Robert's RV) until after 10 PM. We pulled in after hours and found they had two sites marked as available for after hours arrival . It was easy to fill out the registration and pay by check.
Nice quiet place to stop for the night. No usable AT&T service at all.
So glad we stopped as 30 minutes out we blew a hole in the outside passenger duely tire..

We just retired and became full timers and needed to set up our domicile in Florida. This park helped us to that end and was certainly cost effective for full hook ups.
PROs
* SmartWeigh is available to schedule (weighing each tire base on the rig) so a big plus to get that accomplished!
* Very cost effective park to stay at for a month - paid the electric separate;
* many large old shade trees at many of the sites which really helped us during the hot October on record!
* There are many folks who 'lease' their sites so that results in a sense of community at this park;
* Wonderful lending library, a full room of books made available which we took advantage of;
* Sites are close to a cypress swamp which afforded us to lots of animal life (river otters, birds of prey, egrets, ibis' - no sightings of any alligators);
* super friendly staff;
* close to biking/walking trail (Withalachoee) which was approximately 46 miles long;
* close to Fort Cooper for bird walks on their nature trails;
* close to town of Bushnell which has most everything needed
* wonderful laundry facilities that are very cost effective!
* availability of propane fill on site;
* property next to the park is owned by a person to gives refuge to homeless donkeys (herd of 11) that are super friendly and love apples and carrots.
CONS
* the interior roads have lots of pot holes;
* close to a mining operation so there is truck activity early in the morning (starting at 5 a.m.) that can be heard if parked close to County Road 673.

Spent 2 weeks here with my family. Great prices available. Quiet and out of the way while still close to many things. Basic park with just the basics for what you need. Mostly older couples with not many kids around. A little toad noise, but not bad. Will definitely come back.
