Confirmed by 7 users | Last reported on September 18, 2023The dirt road is very washboard, but you can start to find camping within a 1/4 mile of leaving asphalt. Many sites, spaced about 1/8 mile apart from each other for miles down Vedauwoo Glen Road. Some are better than others, but otherwise it is all roughly the same landscape.
You can hear the Interstate traffic, and a lot of folks use this dirt road to get to different trails or climbing areas for the rocks. No a lot of privacy, but the view is still worth it. Take to the trails yourself as they are worth it.
Verizon signal is weak but do-able in the first mile or so of sites and weakens beyond. Booster will help, but it is far from a perfect signal. No TMobile data to speak of.

This stay occurred in August. We found a pull-out spot that made it easy for us to park as an overnight stop while in transit. The area is gorgeous and we might have stayed longer in this park if we didn't have some place to go, though we would have looked for another more private site since ours was a pull-out next to the main dirt road and lots of passing vehicles/ATVs were rushing past raising dust. Because so many people are driving up and down this road at fast speeds, the road is very badly washboarded. We enjoyed a beautiful walk among the many amazing rock structures naturally formed here. I'm not sure that I would chance bringing big rigs back since some of the side roads with the boondocking sites are not level and some ruts could cause you to scrape your underside/back end if not careful. But if in a <25 camper, I think you're good. Or unhook and drive in first to scout and claim a good site. We can tell this might be a popular place for the local high school and college (Univ. of WY) students to visit because there was evidence of trash that they didn't bother to take back out with them. Lastly, we work online so Verizon signal is a must - we had 2 bars of voice and good LTE signal with a booster.

We used this as a stopping point on our way from Denver to Jackson/Yellowstone area and it worked out great. We had a late start on a Friday so we didn't arrive until 9ish and the campground was full, but we had this as our backup plan so we drove up the dirt road a bit. Quite a few spots were taken, but we found a couple open and grabbed the second one we found. Obviously, it was dark so we had no idea what the view was like, but we were pleasantly surprised in the morning. The site was tucked back a bit from the road behind a couple trees and large boulders and there were other spots we saw that were along the road as well as tucked back 1/4 mile or so off the road.
Be aware the road is quite rough for trailers (washboard) so take it slow. We have a smaller trailer (20') so didn't have a problem fitting in the sites, but larger rigs might find it difficult.
When we drove through the Vedauwoo campground and saw it was full, we noticed those sites were quite close to each other. Totally not the case on these boondocking sites and more of what we preferred.

Pulled in at about 3:00 pm on Friday of labor day weekend. There were still several spots available at that time. Site 12 was a nice spot, but it was a little closer to site 11 than the rest of them were. Most sites are pretty well spread out. There was a small amount of highway noise, but the views made all that disappear. Definitely worth your time to venture out and do some hiking. Beautiful countryside!!

Lots of unique rock formations, well known amongst the climbing community. Stayed in November while passing through. Right off I80 so there is some very faint highway noise but the wind usually drowns it out. Plenty off free spots, some need decent clearance to get to. Would not take a trailer or rv.

I had read the reviews and needed a place to stop overnight — it is one of the most beautiful campgrounds I’ve been to — the views are amazing. Arrive early to get a spot (I slept in my car on a Saturday night because all spots were taken). Also, bathroom and fire rings available.

I took the road 700E down to site E2
Once you pass the main campground and it turns to gravel, it is terribly bumpy. Like a million speed bumps. The side roads have bigger potholes, but are more smooth. ‘E’ was pretty easy to navigate, even in a sedan. The map makes my site seem super close to others, but it was totally private. I could see and at times, hear others, but I definitely had my own area. Great views and very close to the highway. Would love to come back here! No facilities. I had 3 bars LTE AT&T, with no problems.

Beautiful designated Boondocking sites. Quite a few would accommodate our 32’ fifth wheel. 5 stars for location and beauty but dropped to 3 stars for horrible road condition. Extreme washboard road. Couldn’t drive over 5 mph without bouncing all over.

Loved this place but get there early as it fills up fast. It goes on for a long time tho so we did get a spot. Road is rough, washboard with occasional ruts. 4runner with an Escapade did fine. Quiet, even tho right off the interstate and lots of hiking and rock climbing. No cell service.

After seeing reviews and pictures we headed here for the night. There is another campground before this one the cost $10 a night. You just keep going down the road past that one to get to the dispersed camping. We arrived right at sunset and the many choices for camping were clean, beautiful and, spacious. The only downside was clearly hearing Route 80 all night. In spite of that we would definitely camp here again.
