Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on September 30, 2020We stayed here for almost a week last summer. A country road runs through the middle of the campground, but is lightly travelled. The campground host was friendly and helpful and helped us find the ideal spot for us to camp. There isn't a lot (any) shade, other than one spot next to the restrooms, so come prepared to provide your own. There is about 300m of river access for fishing. There is a trashcan and a couple of bathrooms here, but no water. Cell service is adequate, I worked the entire time we were here. The county road extends above and beyond the campground and provides an opportunity for riding bikes or easy hiking. There is also a hiking trail nearby.

Looks like it cost $18 to camp plus the state daily pass fee (about $7).

Beautifully situated along the Arkansas River south of Buena Vista. During the day you hear the river rafters and there is some traffic going to the trail head near by. Other than that it is just the sound of the river. Spaces are spacious and many are big rig friendly. The scenery is outstanding. There are no hookups and it is 'pack it in pack it out'. There are pit toilets that are clean and cleaned daily. We stayed 1 night in a 34 ft. RV but will definitely be back. Be sure to make reservations if you are coming for the weekend.

Quiet, amazing views, great condition (remodeled in 2016), great access to fishing and hiking. Would definitely come back. The tent area by the river was crowded but the sites offered good views of the river and mountains without being crowded.

Part of the Arkansas River Recreation area. Spacious and clean little campground nestled in the brown canyon area. No showers, water or trash service. Sites are nice and reservations are required. The views of Mt. Princeton are spectacular. Nice river sound. Great location for fishing, hiking and close to Buena Vista and Salida. An additional $9 per day per car is required.

This is the perfect time of the year to stay here! The rafters are gone and it’s more quiet. We enjoyed fishing on the Arkansa River and beautiful views of the mountains. The hiking on browns canyon is great and the brown creek falls are just a short drive away (plus a 7mi round trip hike).

Ours was a steep back-in 3 tiered site with huge boulders and gravel. It is a small CG on a river. 1 lane dirt road for part of the drive in. Only a few sites for big rigs. Nice and quiet at night.

Nice campground. Fishing is OK. Views are good. Important: public fishing is UPSTREAM from the boat ramp only. DOWNSTREAM from boat ramp is private and strictly enforced by the resident landowners.

Super clean, great views, loved our space. Great hiking trails right by our site or just a short walk to others. No water or trash, pack pack out.
Can’t wait to stay again.

If you don't have an adsorption fridge, this would probably be fine. To be honest, I set up here and then left. It was not level and there were no trees, shrubs or anything to block the view of all the other very nearby sites. Felt very exposed and too close to the other sites.
