The Veterans of Foreign War (VFW) Wake Island Memorial commemorates the Battle of Wake Island, which occurred on a small island west of Hawaii on December, 23rd, 1941. This landmark was established in 1968 as a gift to those American veterans by the city of Bristow. In addition to providing information and education to the public about this site's history, Wake Island Memorial also serves veterans with a meeting facility and events honoring their services.
