“the most beautiful pools in the Eastern Sierra”
Welcome to Buckeye Hot Springs! Possibly the most beautiful pools in the Eastern Sierras. Three pools flow alongside Buckeye creek from a source on the steep grassy hillside. Make sure to wear choccos or shoes for the short (~200m) and very steep path.
Directions on the websites we found compared to the parking/hike in we actually experienced were very confusing! We wound up driving alllll the way down the one-lane dirt road in which the sign saying hot spring directed us down, when in reality we needed to be parked in the little 'parking lot'/camping space before you even get to that little sign. Hike in, but bemindul of the mud. We were disappointed here not only because of our major directional detour, but because once we got there it was PACKED--mostly with naked pot smoking hippies sitting in a massage circle... we wound up going back to Travertine hot springs for a much better experience.
An absolutely amazing hot spring. Hot water comes over the rocks into a little pool and mixes with the cold river water. It's a steep walk down so wear real shoes. A really magical place worth the trip down a crazy dirt road.
