Now becoming a rather seasoned veteran of overnight Walmart dry camping this parking lot was found to be the very best. There were four RV's in a row along the outside edge of the lot with grass and flat land to walk the dog on. The loud and stinky, obnoxious semi trucks for some reason park on the other side of the lot. I had read on another site that this Walmart allows overnight camping but requests all RV's stay to the outside edge. No problem. This had a very clean parking lot, no trees, a huge mega store, and considerate campers. This particular Walmart sits in a new part of town, about four miles off interstate 65, and quite easy to drive to and away from.
In this location you have 3 mega stores with large parking lots to choose where you want to park. Walmart, Target and Lowe’s.
I elected to park in Target’s parking lot because the parking lot was more level and without all the congestion and noise at Walmart.
Walmart parking lot is massive but not that level. It was crowded too. I saw signs for no transfer trucks allowed. I didn’t see any RVs or other campers. I went through about 430 pm.
The parking lots for all 3 stores are behind stores on the main road so the road noise isn’t a problem.
Arriving on a Saturday evening from the interstate, we had to get through lots of city street traffic. With our big 5th wheel, we avoided the shortcut through the adjacent mall that Google maps suggested. We were glad we turned in from the north off Campbell Lane, which put us at the outer edge of the Walmart lot.
We asked permission from the customer service desk and they said anywhere in the far sections was fine.
The store is 24 hours but the parking lot was SO quiet overnight.
Nice large lot, just a few other RVs. It looks like trucks are not allowed to park here overnight so no truck noise. Great location with so many yummy places to eat very close by and lots of stores. Large grassy area to walk dogs. Lots of trash cans around is always a plus. Seemed very safe and was well lit. Only negative was the loud cars, you know the ones, where they make it loud on purpose I am guessing because they didn’t get enough attention as a child. But once Walmart closed at 11pm it quieted down.
