Confirmed by 3 users | Last reported on April 07, 2022Met up with several friends here during the Big Tent week. Had a fantastic time. This area is a bit washboardy and lots of dips getting into some areas but it is so worth it.
You do need to register with the Camp Host upon entering (parked to the right as soon as you turn on Plomosa).
There is a public dump a few miles down the road, so make sure to take your trash with you when you leave.
Beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Stars galore while sitting around a campfire. Always better with friends. Our only issue was that although we had strong signals with both Verizon and T-Mobile, Verizon was so bogged down due to so many people in the area. We found ourselves getting up at 3 a.m. to get our work done.
If you can do without internet then this would be the perfect experience!

This is my favorite place to Boondock in Quartzsite. Open and plenty of room to spread out. Fairly level most places. Pretty quiet. I feel safe there. Like most boondocking spots around here there are coyotes running around from dusk to Dawn. Just watch small pets out after dark.

I spent 10 days in February 2021 and my nearest neighbor was half a mile away. During that time, one vehicle passed my site. This was on the south side of the road. There were a couple of dips and ruts in the "road", but by hugging one side or the other, I was able to keep my 38' 5th wheel level as I drove. I travel to AZ every winter and this will be my go to spot for the Quartzsite area from now on.

Heard so much about the Quartzsite area that I was compelled to check it out on our way through the area. Stopped at the Pit Stop to fill up on propane. Easy to find and lots of places to camp. No issues other than the road is busy. Would camp here again if in the area.

We arrived the 3rd week of January and picked a site in this BLM area about 1 mile west of Bouse, AZ. It is way less congested than any of the BLM areas near Quartzsite in January. There are a number of easy access dirt roads on either side of Plomosa Road.
Our nearest neighbor was about 100 yards away. You had to listen intently to even hear if the neighbor was running a generator.
This is pure boondocking, no services except what you carry with you.
The local Bouse Community Campground allows you to use their dump station and fill with fresh water for $20. The camp host told us that the water is from a well and they test it monthly to ensure safety.
Two of the commercial campgrounds in Bouse will fill your propane tank, and the price was very reasonable - actually cheaper than in Quartzsite.
Plomosa Road has road traffic throughout the day, but is minimal at night. Overall there was little road noise. There was the occasional ATV group that passed the by but all were considerate regarding speed and dust.
In Bouse there is a small grocery store and a Family Dollar that provides most of the basic essentials, including fresh fruits and vegetables.
This is a great place to stay and easily attend the numerous activities in Quartzsite in January.

We camped here in a 40' motorhome in January 2022.
Plomosa Road is our go-to for boondocking in Quartzsite AZ.
We like Plomosa compared to other areas in Q because the road is paved and the camping area extends back 3 miles. So RVs are generally pretty spread out, and you don't have to drive on dirt for too long to find a nice private spot.
It's easy access to the free Quartzsite transfer center for trash and recycling.
It's also on the same end of town as the RV Pit Stop for filling water, propane and dumping.
The Palm Plaza Laundromat is also right next to the Pit Stop on this end of town.
All of the Quartzsite dispersed camping areas are 14-day stay limits.
Enjoy!

Check in with Host at turnoff. Nice folks. I think they just want to know who's been there. Drove about a mile in and found all kinds of places just to pull off and camp. Active, but not crowded this time of year. Felt very safe in this area. Spent two days. Drove into town and grabbed dinner both nights, first at Times Three Family Restaurant, and the next at Silly Al's Pizza. Both were excellent. Good Verizon coverage.

I'm here right now, on the north end about 5 miles outside of Bouse. Much better than down by 95. Much less crowded even during the peak times. I'm about a mile off of the road and it's super quiet. Nearest neighbors about a quarter mile away. When I first got here, I could hear a generator running in the evening off to the west somewhere, but I had to be outside to actually hear it and then it wasn't objectionable.
Cell coverage is sporadic. T-Mobile is best during the day while Verizon is better in the mornings. I can stream YouTube TV almost any time I want to.

There are many roads off to the right where you can enter and find a spot. Much earlier then where it’s labeled roads good and many level spots. Probably around 20 RV’s scattered about.
Great sky to view the stars.
A few people who look a little shady but off in their own area.
A few coyotes and quail but little else.

I headed out this way towards Soiux. Lol me Salome the area is quite nice and level, cell phone service is adequate, and I am able to use this area as a dark sky location for Astronomy. All in all a good experience.
