Bombay Beach

I def wouldn't camp here... the Salton Sea smells really bad! It is one of the most polluted bodies of water in the country and the water level is really low right now. But it is cool to see.

This place is like a post-apocalyptic Mad Max movie set. Very eerie, and sits like a poster for environmental devastation. It makes for a very interesting day!

Bombay Beach is the epicenter of arts and culture for the entirety of the salton empire. Dine at the decadent and world-famous Ski Inn, catch an opera at the world-class fully functioning Bombay Beach Opera House, wander through the lush Italian gardens of the Bombay Beach Institute of Metaphysics, Particle Physics, and International Relations before marveling at their extravagant aviary featuring strutting peacocks and up to 5 other types of exotic birds, and after sunset maybe catch a movie at the Bombay Beach Drive-In Theatre, which was recently renovated with the addition of a magnificently exploded sports car just shy of the entrance, or perhaps just stare idly at the relaxing Angler’s Grove. With no shortage of delights to enthrall and entertain even the pickiest of travelers, Bombay Beach easily falls within the top 3 must-see attractions in all California.
