Boley Historical Museum

The Boley Historical Museum is house in a 1929 home and contains many artifacts of Boley's early days as an established black town in Oklahoma. Founded in 1903 as a camp for black railroad construction workers, Boley flourished as a town because of its fertile farmland, which was distributed as allotments to Creek-Freedmen. It was also billed as a haven where African Americans could govern themselves, drawing settlers from Texas, Georgia and Florida. Booker T. Washington called Boley "the most enterprising and... interesting" of the black towns.
