“117 scenic acres along the Guadalupe River”
117 scenic acres along the Guadalupe River containing six habitats: riparian, oak savanna, disturbed woodland/blowdown, open juniper - oak woodland, closed-canopy juniper - oak woodland, and old field. 1,700 feet of Guadalupe River frontage allows access for river recreation: fishing, paddling, swimming, splashing, and relaxing. Hike along three miles of multiuse paths for fun, exercise, and nature study. Most paths are natural surface and unimproved. Paths can be rugged and strenuous. Hiking boots are recommended on unimproved paths. The Fossil Ridge Loop is an energetic hike into the canyon to view the fossil bank, geologic features, and the tornado blow-down. The North and South Woodland Loops are wide, open routes following utility easements through diverse oak tree species, old-growth juniper, and massive cedar elms. The River Loop leads to shady picnic spots and pleasing views of the Guadalupe. Spurs off the main paths present interesting adventures. Fossils, fossils, fossils. Texas geology is on exhibit - many karst and fossil features exist throughout the natural area.
Wow! I am speechless after visiting this beautiful area today! My pup and I pulled in, parked, took a short hike to the river (steep hill to get to it), then hiked the property. Everything was FREE and no one was even manning the front gate but you could tell this beauty gets a lot of attention because all of the trails were freshly mowed to be about 5ft wide so there was no guessing game as to if you were where you are supposed to be.
