Pleasant hosts. Close to Black Hawk. Very quiet. No hook ups of course.

Close to Blackhawk & Central City. 1 hr to Denver. Lovely spaces in the back. A few DO NOT accommodate slides. Check. They aren’t kidding about this. Camp hosts super kind.

I'll start with the bad. There is a road that goes right by the campground and it's loud, unfortunately. That's the worse part of this experience. I will say I think others will have complaints about their sites, because many were using trailers in what appeared to be a pull-off site. It would be tough to park. This campground is better for car camping or tent camping.
I camped in the back of my Subaru Crosstrek. I wasn't prepared for the cold on the first night and had a tough time sleeping, but nothing to do with the campground (just a side note). Anyway, the views from site 7 are AMAZING (see photos). When I woke up and opened the car door, I was greeted by some phenomenal mountain views.
The first night I had ZERO coverage on AT&T service. I lost it driving up through the mountains to get to the campground. I left the next morning and drove to Boulder. When I came back I had three bars of service. Maybe it was the weather? I don't know. Either way, just be aware, it's possible you won't have service.
I saw the camp host driving around on his golf cart a few times. He seemed friendly, but I never chatted with him.
One other plus, is with the amount of trees, there are great spots to hang a hammock. Again, I will recommend site 7. It's a back-in with a great camping pad and a fire pit with a picnic table.

My issue is with cellular service. I am on Verizon owned Visible Prepaid that runs on Verizon LTE Only network and it has very bad service. My sons T-mobile Service had 68 megabit connections. My in car Wifi has ATT Connected Car and got about 30+ LTE Speeds. So in this day and age it is a matter of life and death for having cellular data and calls. There is no excuse what so ever for poor cell service expecially from Verizon... I think there needs to be detailed reviews of cellular service and coverage maps only go off zipcodes and may not show your campsite as not having service... Tired of false maps and its not just one company doing it.... Time for Americans to stand up and demand nation wide wifi, cellular, satalite internet service with gig speed for free! This should be part of the constitution. Why is this important to me? I plan to work while camping... Just because i am camping does not mean i can not work

This was a wonderful find. The sites are very large, each with separate areas for parking a trailer and car, a picnic table, and a tent site. Lots of trees which provide privacy. Sites are about 75 to 100 feet apart so you aren’t really bothered by neighbors. There is an abundance of chipmunks and hummingbirds.
Ignore the reviews complaining about Verizon coverage. We had a couple of bars on our Verizon phones. Besides, isn’t the idea of camping to get off the grid and away from things?
While there are a couple of water spigots, they don’t have hose connections, so either fill your fresh water tank before arriving or be prepared to tote water.
The only negative about this campground is that it is right off the highway so you can expect a bit of road noise during the day. This is the only thing that keeps me from giving it 5 stars.
The price we paid included the Senior Pass discount

We visited right after a summer snow storm and it was a bit cool but fantastic in the sun. It’s very easy to get to from Denver but felt a million miles away. The RV length is 30’ and we had no issue with our 30’ travel trailer. Site 24 has a lot of open space around it with only neighbor really. The only drawback was it was near the bathrooms and there was breeze causing an occasional odor. We used this as a jumping off point for Golden Gate Canyon state park just down the road.
There is great T-Mobile LTE service here. The water does not have a screw on hose bib for filling an RV. There is some road noise from highway 119 but it's not bad towards the back of the campground. The front sites are tight and closer to the road.

We found a spot here on a first come first serve basis. Some of the spots are for reservation only. There is a little road noise and a lot of pollen. Overall this was a wonderful place to stay. Don’t miss the short overlook hike near the back of the campground.

Nice campground close to Golden, CO and near Golden Gate State Park. Beautiful, short hike from the campground to a nice view of the front range. On some sites (like ours) the picnic table, fire ring, and bear box were down a few stairs from where the trailer/truck were parked. Water available for filling containers. Clean vault toilets and trash service.

If you’re longer than 32’ site #34 is about the only level spot. We were in 30 and couldn’t make it work. Another couple switched spots with us and it took some creativity to get their 32” level. The camp hosts were not there when we arrived and the area manager on property was not very helpful. When the hosts returned we were not very impressed with them either. The campground is kept clean and has a cute playground but there is road noise which doesn’t completely quiet at night.

We chose site 19 for its tree cover and distance from the highway. We were not disappointed at all. Great mix of shade and light, light breezes most of the time, and just enough birds and chipmunks and squirrels to entertain us and our cat (he's much too fat to catch anything). The camp was very peaceful over a Sunday night and Monday night, with maybe 25% of spaces occupied. The camp managers were friendly, informative, and encouraged us to explore the area. A little highway noise was perceptible, but easy to tune out.
The short hike up to the Vista was easy, even at 9200 ft. Highly recommend for the view and hey, sometimes you realize you forgot to set up your email 'out of office' notification and need a few bars of cell service. (cell coverage in camp was nearly zero.)
Vault toilets were as clean as could be, and spigots for refilling water were handy. Locking bear boxes at each site were handy for putting up cooking gear overnights (bring your own padlock). Camp has firewood for purchase (drop your cash in a little box, $9 a bundle) day or night.
Adding a few notes about our setup - we have a 7-passenger SUV and a twelve foot teardrop trailer, which both fit with plenty of room to spare in the space provided. We didn't use the tent pad, which is very roomy, but nearby was a family with an 8-person tent that fit right to the edges of their pad. The bear box was roomy enough for our 55-gallon cooler and our tabletop gas grill.
