Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on April 18, 2024Came to Bitterbrush after a failed attempt at Pleasure Valley Campground. The location and views are great. Sites are mostly level. Some will fit bigger RVs, but I would not take anything larger than 35ft. Good location to do some local sightseeing. No water for RVs. Will need to fill up in town. The Arco Station in Bishop had water and sewer dump available.

Very difficult to find national forest campgrounds open in the winter. Bitterbrush has beautiful views up the valley to the snow-capped peaks. Campground is along a creek, the vault toilets were open and reasonably clean. There is no water available in the off-season but on the plus side it was free. :-)
About 12 mi west of Bishop so an easy drive into town. No Verizon service.
I stayed four nights; only had a couple other campers there during that time.

A newly constructed campground, Bitterbrush is open year round although there is no water or trash service during the winter months. This is primarily a winter campground as it is frequently below the snow line or just has minor amounts of snow. Bearproof food storage containers available in the campground.
