“In remembrance of the victims of Hurricane Katrina”
Producers of ABC ’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” in February assembled on Biloxi’s Town Green a team that included architect from Ocean Springs, an artist from Kiln, a contractor from Gulfport and residents from across the Mississippi Gulf Coast to create a memorial to the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The memorial, which was featured in a national broadcast on Thursday, March 21, features a showcase displaying a host of mementoes from Coast residents. This site is designed to help tell the story of the memorial.
Glad we made time for this stop on our Roadtrip. The memorial is small, but beautiful.
The memorial was very informative, and the found object culture was nicely done. The memorial is not overwhelming in its simplicity. Definitely a landmark to check out, especially being that it is very close to the beach and many of the casinos that most people visit anyway.
Almost missed it! No parking and off Beach Blvd. We parked at a business behind it and walked over. It's got a nice lawn and a neat little seating area built up around a big oak nearby, nice place to reflect. The memorial is simple - the names make it meaningful.
