Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on September 10, 2020Very steep mountain road about 9 windey miles up. Very narrow road within the campground, but we were able to get our 25 foot Airstream carefully thru the trees and around the curvy bumpy road into our site. Alas, no water in campground since the landslide took out the water lines. We were able to use the water spicket from the Glacial Lodge next door. Lovely campground with a very full stream running thru campground. Bathrooms were clean.
There is no cell service and had a tough time getting On-Star for vehicle diagnostic. We had to leave after 2 nights because of tow vehicle issues. I hope to go back again to fish and explore the hiking.

Although the area is beautiful, Big Pine Creek Campground is not for travel trailers or RVs. The campground road is very narrow and bumpy. Tree roots have buckled the road throughout the campground. This campground does not have water. The nearby Upper Sage Flat Campground does have potable water.
I took a horseback ride up to the Alpine Lakes with Glacier Pack Train. Wow, that was the best $100 I ever spent. Gorgeous!

Campsites are perched along the cool, fish-filled waters of Big Pine Creek.North Fork Basin is heralded for having the southernmost glacier in the United States, the Palisade Glacier. It's also the largest glacier in the Sierra Nevada mountains.
