“a working lighthouse built in 1895”
Welcome to the Bete Gris Light Station. This is a working lighthouse with its original fourth order Fresnel Lens. Built in 1895, this lighthouse and its reservation remain unchanged from that time. Plans are underway to completely restore all the out-buildings. We have put together one of the most detailed collections of original maps of the Great Lakes and the Keweenaw Peninsula ever amassed.
