RV's may not like the climb up the mountain, but the gravel road is wide and well maintained. RV's can use the first loop to the right or the first back-in spot to the left. Not sure if there are any suitable RV spots past the second loop (no camping in the 2nd loop).
Observatory open to public Fri/Sat nights.

We took an RV up here pulling a trailer of motorcycles. It's a great place for launching day rides. There's not too much else to do on top of this butte/mountain other than just admire the amazing view. I hear that on certain nights the UofO Observatory will allow walk in visitors to take a peek through the telescope (unverified, however).
Note: the washboard road up the many miles to the peak is horrendous--one of the worst and longest I've ever experienced. No not try to bring a fragile trailer up there. How bad? I lost a hubcap and ran it over with my trailer!!! Good times.

The real advantage to this location is that it’s right next to Pine Mountain Observatory. Just like this campground it’s free. The telescopes are hosted by the University of Oregon and are usually open only on the weekends in the summer. Check their website for schedules.

The dusty gravel road off the highway takes about 20 minutes but it’s usually maintained enough where you could bring a small travel trailer. Larger rigs need a capable pilot to navigate some tight turns into the campground.
