“resurrecting the past one grain at a time”
PaleoAdventures is an independent, commercial paleontology company dedicated to helping preserve the important vertebrate fossils (DINOSAURS, MARINE REPTILES, etc.) of the great American west! We are based out of the beautiful, northern Black Hills of South Dakota; a stone's throw away from some of the most important dinosaur dig sites in the world. We are located one hour east of Devil's Tower and one hour west of Mt. Rushmore; a mere 30 minutes north of Deadwood. PaleoAdventures works with private landowners in the Wyoming, Montana and South Dakota badlands though fossil leases. Our main interest is in discovering and researching new, well-preserved specimens that can be sold or donated to museums around the world. We do however occasionally find bone bed deposits which are suitable for tourist activities. These bone beds typically are ancient river channel deposits where a variety of isolated dinosaur, mammal, reptile, amphibian and fish fossils can be found. Because the bones are normally not connected to a skeleton they do not have as much scientific value as partial or complete skeletons. This means that once the scientific data is collected many of these bones can be sold or collected by enthusiasts. Please call 605-210-1275 to schedule a dinosaur dig site tour, purchase a legally and ethically collected fossil specimen or to find out more about our many products and services.
You need to make reservations in advance which we were not aware of so we missed out on the dinosaur dig. Also, if you use Roadtrippers to navigate to this location you will not find it.
