Close enough to use as a base for Houston and Austin, which is what I did. It's not ideal for either but it's a good midpoint.
Very quiet with lots of activities dotted around a really huge campground.
I arrived late due to my mis-keying my next campground into the GPS(!) but the ranger was very cool and called me to see where I was in relation once it started getting late.
Sites were nice & flat and well maintained. I use 30 amp and when I had setup a maintenance person locked off the 50 amp. Not necessary but shows they are attentive.
A machine for getting quarters in the reception was very welcome.
Nice large place overall, no complaints from me.

Large campground looking a little rundown, awkward staff, crappy electrics, poor wifi. Access down a very strange (but not too narrow) couple of roads.
All the reviews are correct but with a cost of zero dollars a night, it's hard to say that you shouldn't stay here. And the area around Medina Lake has some beautiful views.
I got a site near the laundry and managed to piggyback off that free wifi quite handsomely! It's only available near the communal areas.
They did one thing to really annoy me - the poor attitude at reception doesn't bother me - but they advertise laundry as closing at 9, last load at 8. I put laundry in dry at 7.30, checked at 8.20 and not done yet, and went to collect at 8.35 again - only to find it locked for the evening. I had to go grab it at 8am when it reopened - thankfully it was in the dryer otherwise it'd have been mouldy and needed a rewash.
The sites are a little overgrown but my trailer fit fine and I didn't mind the rustic appearance. But this place really needs a little TLC.

I called and inquired about their status (open, water, etc) since the storm. They just got the water back. I asked about short term stay and they said they only take long term (monthly) guests.

Staff was amazing. We stayed in the new area and it was great. We used our TT membership and just paid $3 a night for an amazing Level site. No trees so Starlink was amazing. But our other options worked great as well. Stayed here and was able to visit Houston, San Antonio and Austin.
