Confirmed by 3 users | Last reported on June 16, 2022Baggs is a small town just north of Wyoming’s southern border. The night before crossing into Colorado, we stayed in a lovely dispersed camping spot off SH789, about 36 miles below I-80x187 (Creston Junction). At this point you turn west onto Robbers Gulch Road, then travel along until you find the perfect spot. We stayed at N41.21437, W107.72002, which is about 1-1/2 miles in on this gravel road, at 6460 feet in elevation. There were many pronghorn in the area, and we wished we could have stayed longer. The next morning we dumped and filled with water in the town of Baggs, at the Town Hall (small blue building), N41.03506, W107.65833. It was free, although they do ask for donations. Baggs is about 2 miles north of the state line.

Just loved this place! On our way to Cheyenne, we decided to stop here for the night for a little r & r. No At&t, and a little Verizon, this was a place to explore and forget about the internet and social media. We went walking up the hill by our camping spot (we were right by the gps site and great directions). Therwere antelope in the area, but far enough away from us. The road was well marked from the highway and was smooth enough for our large setup. No noise at night as the freeway was distanced enough from us. Delightful bird sounds in the morning were a cheerful way to get up in the morning. If you are looking for a peaceful place full of solitude and beautiful rolling hills, then this is the place for you!

We stayed left at the fork and went down 2.5 miles from main road. Found a site right off the dirt road level enough that we didn’t even need to unhitch. Verizon signal was good. Lots of Pronghorn and cows but the real treat was the sunset both nights. And of course wild horses. We only experienced minor wind 90% of the time, but a few serious gusts that would last for about 10 minutes. Anyway, roads are good as of June 2021. No trash and we didn’t see another camper. Also, plenty of places to park near the main road if you didn’t want to drive back so far. So long as a wind storm isn’t on the horizon, this is a perfect spot for a couple days of relaxation.

I followed the previous reviewer’s advice and drove about 2 miles in, forked left and found a flat area. There were no other campers and we couldn’t see anyone for miles. And 2 Verizon bars. It was honestly amazing. I haven’t seen stars like that in a long time. We also took a previous reviewer’s advice and dumped in Baggs at a free (donation) dump site. Really an amazing free stop if you don’t need hookups.

Wide open spaces, beautiful rolling hills, and no one around. We followed the coordinates 1.5 mi in end stayed right before the fork in the on a level spot that had obviously been a campsite. So happy to have found it.

Reviewers are spot on. Beautiful views. Solitude. Breezy so cool enough to enjoy. Enough of a signal to stream tunes while taking in the stars.

Like previous post it is a beautiful location and very quiet. The cliffs with the red color and just the vast expanse of the area is very refreshing. Word of caution. If it's raining be careful driving too far in as the road gets as bad as if snow was on it. We camped at the "Y" of the two roads and there was a easy place to pull off. Once we got setup it started raining hard and made the road very slippery. There is a site right when you pull off the highway. We didn't have AT&T were we camped but the turn off from the highway we had a great signal to send pictures etc. Anyway check it out and enjoy.

Dispersed camping, there’s no sign that makes it clear when it stops or starts, so we just followed someone else’s tracks who camped here. Cell service is okay, orange cliff sides, and lots of sand so we careful if you stay during a storm or longer than a night. Good stay over right off the highway. Cactus everywhere so watch out.

Agree with previous reviewers on the quiet, solitude open views of high desert and dark sky. This is actually a gas field on BLM land, with roads maintained to gas wells. The level spot we’re camping on was probably the site for office and living trailers when the nearby well was drilled. Still, a fine site which we enjoyed.

Easy to find and maneuver our rig around. We were all by ourselves literally! Verizon cell service good and usable. We rode our bikes took a little hike but mostly relaxed. Nice breezes and views. Encountered pronghorn antelope and cows while bicycling. The stars at night were out of this world. Definitely a great spot and would go again
