“Two campsites close by”
Overview Perhaps the biggest draw to Ten-X Campground in northern Arizona is its proximity to the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park. Located just 4 miles south of the park entrance in beautiful Kaibab National Forest, Ten-X is a quiet, peaceful campground that generally has open camping sites. A nature trail weaves its way through the pine forest, and many more hiking opportunities are within a short drive. The facility can accommodate individual and family visitors, as well as large groups up to 75 people.Recreation The campground has a short nature hike that allows visitors to view local flora and fauna. Elsewhere, the nearby town of Tusayan offers horseback riding, helicopter rides and other tours. Many hiking, sightseeing, cultural history and outdoor recreation opportunities lie just a few miles away in Grand Canyon National Park.Facilities The facility is attractive, well-maintained and spacious. There are 70 single-unit campsites organized in a large loop, each accommodating up to eight people. Single-family sites 1-13, 22-30 and 45-70 are non-reservable and only available on a first-come, first-served basis. Sites are comfortable with bathrooms, water and paved parking nearby. Sites 2, 3 and 4 have tent pads. There are also two group sites. Group Site A accommodates up to 75 people. Group Site B accommodates up to 50 people. Groups larger than 75 people can reserve both Group Sites A and B. The group sites have picnic shelters, tables and tent pads. Due to limited water supply, RVs are not allowed to fill up at the campground.Natural Features Ten-X is situated in a pleasant Ponderosa pine and Gambel oak forest at an elevation of 6,600 ft. The forest is nestled on the Colorado Plateau, an area of land that was uplifted by geologic processes. Summer temperatures range from 50 degrees at night to 80-90 degrees during the day. Summer thunderstorms, known as the monsoon, can build up quickly, especially during July and August. Snow is common from December through March. Nearby Attractions Grand Canyon National Park's South Rim, just 4 miles away, is a must-see for Ten-X campers. The adjacent town of Tusayan has a wide array of amenities, such as a gas station, restaurants, small grocery store, banks, hotels, internet access, mountain biking trails and many different tours.

They aren't bothered by humans, maybe because everyone leaves them be and just take pictures from a distance.
If I were to imagine a legit campground where you would want to take your family for a true camping experience Ten-X would be it. It is nothing fancy at all, but it is perfect for what it is. Set in beautiful woods the sites are very generously spaced and the park did not feel crowded at all. In fact we were shocked how it didn't get full even on a weekend at the Grand Canyon in May, however it did get down to 24 degrees overnight so that may have explained it! We forgot how high up you are at the Grand Canyon and weather can be very erratic!
There were no hook-ups and only vault toilets but everything was well cared for and the hosts were very friendly. The campground is only about 4-5 miles from the entrance to Grand Canyon and was even closer to the nearest town.
On second thought don't stay here, so that we have a spot when we return!!

We pulled into Ten-x on a Saturday afternoon hoping to find a spot for a few nights while we visited the Grand Canyon. We were lucky to grab a spot easily with the help of the campground host. The campgrounds are beautiful, with large sites. We camped here on our Airstream, and noticed there were a lot of other RVs (lots of RV spots). The grounds have lots of shade and stay nice and cool (it sits at an elevation of around 7,000 ft), and are very quiet. We were lucky enough to see about four beautiful elk wandering through. I would highly recommend staying here on a visit to the Grand Canyon - the park is about 3 minutes outside of the gate!
A heads up:There is a toilet and fresh water in the summer, but no showers.

Great sites that were clean and well trimmed vegetation. Vault toilets that were well maintained and cleaned daily. Pumped several times a week it appeared. Water spigots generously placed around the campground. No dump would be my only complaint. Stayed over Memorial Day weekend and it never felt crowded. CG host, Erwin was cruising around frequently and even helped me troubleshoot a problem with my hydraulic levelers. Rate was with access pass, I believe its $12 nightly without any Federal passes. Private campground in Tuscayan allows you to use $2 showers (8 minutes) and laundry room 24/7. At this elevation A/C wasn't ever needed. Fire rings and charcoal grills were provided. Very pleasant and quiet stay. Could hear Grand Canyon Airport during daylight hours with constant tour planes and helicopters coming and going but upon darkness all was quiet.

What an amazing campground this is and if we could give it more stars we would. The campground is very well maintained, clean, well priced and sites are very large in size.
It's located extremely close to the entrance to the Grand Canyon National Park as well as the little town before it. But yet it does not feel crowded at all, it also feels secluded and is extremely quiet.
The campground hosts are very friendly and helpful. They make you feel welcomed and are on site if needed.
And let's not forget our favorite visitors.... The wildlife: The Elk - both Big racked males and females coming right through and eating, the birds, squirrels etc..... Just A GREAT place to stay period..... But, make sure you pack properly, it gets DAMN cold towards evening!!!

We have been coming to Ten-X campground for 4 years in a row every summer. We normally stay 3 nights. Campground is about 15 mins from the grand canyon national park. The campground is clean with a friendly host. there are no showers at this campground but the mather campground has showers about 10 mins from Ten-X. Campsites are large which helps with the no noise ! we will return next year for some more grand canyon trips.

This was my first campsite in AZ. Heard coyotes and elk during the night time. My campsite was very clean as were the pit toilets. I rode my Mt. Bike down the access dirt road following the power lines that parallel AZ 64. Ended up on some forest service road that lead to the Forest Service Fire Lookout Tower on Red Butte. The very nice lady manning to tower took me up to the upper level to show me the map and spotting system they use to pinpoint forest fires. Very instructional and worth the short but strenuous hike to get to the top. The very nice lady offered drinking water for my return trip.
Five bucks with my Senior Pass was well worth the trip. Campsite Hosts were super friendly and helpful. As others have mentioned, Tusayan as well as the Grand Canyon itself is pricey. Better to come stocked with provisions. While there is water in the CG, it is not guaranteed.

We absolutely loved this spot and with our Senior park pass we only paid $5
The spots are huge and level although we did see a few trailers with a lot of leveling blocks. There are fire pits and picnic tables at each site. You can reserve the inner circle spots but all of the outer circle are first come first served. You can stay up to 14 days and the camp host is very friendly.
Pit toilets are clean and situated nearby. Packed gravel roads made driving to the sites very easy.
Verizon cell service was ok with our we- boost.

Is seeking public comments concerning Ten X expansion to the end of May. Their expansion plan includes updated facilities and expanding to 300 campsites. They do need to know the public is aware and cares about this plan.

I think they wanted it addressed to "Ten X Comments."
