Managed by the Coronado National Forest, the Santa Catalinas northeast of Tucson offer a number of hiking trails for all skill levels, as well as opportunities for horse riding, mountain biking, camping, and even downhill skiing. The range is crowned by the 9,157-foot Mt Lemmon, which provides a cool retreat during hot summers. The area also includes Sabino Canyon (listed above), as well as the Pusch Ridge Wilderness Area. For access to Mt Lemmon, visitors are required to purchase a ''Coronado Recreation Pass'' ($5/day, $20/year), which also is good for use in Sabino Canyon as well as Madera Canyon (listed in [[South Central Arizona]]).
