“the home of Seabiscuit”
Santa Anita Park is located in Arcadia, CA, 14 miles northeast of downtown Los Angeles. The racetrack first opened in 1934 and was infamously the home of Seabiscuit.
The track is home to numerous prestigious races including both the Santa Anita Derby and the Santa Anita Handicap as well as hosting the Breeders' Cup in 1986, 1993, 2003, 2008, 2009, 2012 and 2013. In 2010, Santa Anita's ownership was moved to MI Developments Inc. (MID). Trevor Denman is the track announcer.
I haven't ever actually gone to a race at Santa Anita, but every winter our family goes to watch the early morning workouts and eat breakfast. The restaurant is yummy! You can either order from the window or sit at the tables in front of the stands and a server will come. A beautiful view to start the day!
