“luxury historic vacation suites”
The Consulate features four world class luxury vacation suites in Apalachicola's Grady Building, which is located in the heart of the Historic Riverfront District. The History of the Grady Building as a French Consulate is an intriguing look into Apalachicola's past. Prior to the Civil War, at a time when Apalachicola was one of the largest and busiest seaports along the Gulf Coast, France established a consulate in Apalachicola to protect the commercial interests of French citizens and firms who conducted business in the port. In the early 1900s, the French Consulate was located in the second story of the Grady Building on Water Street. After a three-year restoration project, the Grady Building has reemerged in turn-of-the-century grandeur. Upstairs, overlooking the Apalachicola River, the former French Consulate has been refashioned into four luxury suites. Decorated with antique prints, original art and vintage maps, each suite has a unique personality of its own. Heart pine floors and eleven foot tin plated ceilings create a spacious and elegant atmosphere throughout The Consulate. All of the suites have fully equipped designer kitchens; cable televisions with VCRs; laundry facilities and balconies.
